  • Bill Murphy - Fallout 76 May Be the Sandbox MMO We've Been Waiting For - MMORPG.com

This is no Fallout. It's a rust rip-off to get quick money. Murphy should maybe review more fortnite as Fallout is not a joke franchise.

Any true fan of the series knows there is a proper story and a way for you, as a player, to be a part of it. This game is not about story, it's about your AP drain when you melee a ghoul. Absolute disgrace to the fallout series.

    AVOID.

Any other Fallout game, I would be right there in it, free or not. I don't see any reason to not allow people play offline/alone - or is the fact you can encounter other players the only reason the game was made?

The only reason you guys make stories about this game and push MMO label is your site, nothing else.
Why are you WTFing informative posts.

The game has NPCs. I just sold my items to some and got quests from another.

I can def see that wandering the wastes alone will become a fairly boring way to spend your time in Appalachia.

The questing is pretty standard fair, but the world does seem very isolated and lonely due to no NPCs that aren't hostile.

That being said, I can see this game (especially at end-game) being an absolute blast/riot when playing with a group of friends.

Certainly some similarities there to early MMO design.
There are NPCs that aren't hostile.
To add: The game has NPCs. They just aren't what you know "standing still waiting for you" kind of NPCs. Most NPCs are tied to quests or events, so they act in a dynamic way within the world.

You'll maybe find a courier standing somewhere. Or activate a guard robot to patrol the streets while you scort him (you and other players around the are).

    Let's put it this way.

Remove CPR from the equation and substitute EA instead.
People would be all over EA and supporting the author. But because it is a game that people seem to enjoy they over look logic and favor the game maker.
The law states he can receive more money. There is a reason countries have added the bestseller clause for creatives. The Netherlands just passing it into law in 2015 is a good example.
Creatives get shafted all the time every day.

This will settle out of court. As it always does. Regardless what CDR fans want to think or believe.
Remove the author and put a kitty cat. Remove EA and place the 5th form of matter.

    Dude, stop "what if".

Nobody here is attached to the case, and if any of us were we wouldn't be able to legally comment on it. So we are just sharing our thoughts about the author that has no impact whatsoever on the actual lawsuit.

    Chill.

Some people get too frgigging hung up on legal gambling definitions with all of their exceptions and technicalities when they should really be looking at whether something is a simple and above board transaction or something rigged that has more in common with what you find in fair midways or back alleys.
I don't know why this partciular issue gets me hung up. I know lootboxes are a predatory practice.

I just don't agree with a ban or an age restriction.

That's probably because you're lawful good and I'm chaotic good :)

You want to see good laws applied logically and justly... I just want the fucking things eradicated from gaming by any means :)
As a D&D player I just want to point out  someone who strictly follows the law, regardless if it is harmful or not is lawful neutral. Not Lawful-Good. Lawful-Good is someone who makes laws (or tries within the range of legalities to change the laws) for the well being of the people.

    Sorry the off topic.
As a roleplayer I just want to point out its so, so past time we got rid of alignments, they are a caricature of good roleplaying. :)
Nah, they are great. Even better when used with point system (0 to 100). Just people misunderstadns them... The same way people misunderstands Nature and Demeanor in Storyteller.

I always felt the classic alignments were a fun tool to labeling how people are in real life.

    President Trump....Lawful Evil?

    ;)
eNeutral-evil, actually. Someone that is selfish and does not care much about order or chaos, just want to make things the way he wants to.

I have a really hard time finding the art style, cartoony, and rat race interesting and appealing. Yet, we rvr'ers don't get many options these days so I'm still looking forward to giving this a go.
Well, that's a bummer because I'm the other way around: Gigantic, for example, holds a special place in my heart and I would kill for a MMORPG following that art style.

Yesterdat I watched some episodes of Disenchantment and I would love to play a RPG following that art style (look the background art! It's so gorgeous!) - And again, I would kill for a MMORPG following that style and not another one realistic mucle men with sword that takes itself serious and somewhat needs to validate the low self-steem of the one handling the avatar.
