  • State of Elyria update from Caspien (Jan 2018)

Wasn´t the topic of this post to point out an imaginary delay of the SoE, hence, again, discrediting? And to make it even more visibile to everyone you used your "moderation" to close another neutral post who was not willing to serve your post, wasn´t it?

So, State of Elyria you might mean.
What were you guys most excited about in that report?

    Pretty much.

  • The positive CoE challenge:

An important positive is that they have clearly found a way to get additional funding. I don't know what their payroll is but right now they must be covering a big chunk of it.

  • COE funding continues to grow

A couple of month ago there was a discussion around here about what the required budget for this game was. This got me interested in whether COE was still raising cash and I started recording the funding level on their website to see what was happening. Seems they are raising just short of £30k every month. Probably not enough to cover all their costs but certainly enough to significantly extend how long they can develop for.

Will this be enough for them to make a viable product?

  • Alright, Caspian, let's dance

So why does Caspian get a pass after:

For one, he doesn't seem to be getting a pass and there are mitigating factors. Firstly he is not being paid a salary and secondly the project is funded by donations. The very nature of this project is more speculative than the type of project you might be working on. There is a reason this game is being made by an Indie dev and funded by Kickstarter, the economic risk is too large to have passed muster in a regular business. People that support Kickstarter should realise that it will be less of a polished, professional experience and not get in a huff if things get a bit hairy.

So by all means people can raise concerns but the level of malicious hyperbole is ridiculous given the nature of the project.

Perhaps you should include all the slanderous posts accusing them of fraud, incompetency etc that probably led to that reply.
