Then griefers will use it to victimize everyone with throwaway characters. Hell, these people would even buy accounts to do this, that's how dedicated some are to ruining other people's day lol.anemo said:
Using it as a way to punish PvP/theft/whatever in the "right" game could be an interesting mechanic. Especially if you have a sandbox game where you want PvP to exist, but don't want player hunting/theft/murder to be the reason for the game to exist (IE: you have other content).
We should all realize that a game like that would be heavily micro transactions, selling cool housing items and clothing. Then everyone likes pets for their house so tons of pets for sale.I have a VERY good inclination to believe CCP sees a big money ticket and not doing it for love of game design.
RPS: Because it’s been so long since we’ve had a White Wolf game, could you talk about why it’s taken so long? And what does going back to digital games let you do, in a storytelling sense, that you can’t do on tabletop?
Ericsson: The first question is pretty easy. It’s because at CCP, I was one of the content designers on the MMO World of Darkness, and the strategy we took there was to put all our eggs in one basket. We wanted to make the most awesome, content-heavy MMO, and then content-heavy MMOs went BAM, into the sink. We saw Knights of the Old Republic fail and Warhammer Online crash.
We were in the middle of MMO death, so we tried to rescope, and we tried to do that by doing something in CCP’s style, which is emergent player-based stories. But we were a bit too late, and we maybe tried to bite off a bit more than we could chew.
The answer to that question makes me Q.Q
It's such a goddamn shame that the Western gaming community is such a toxic cesspool. It says a lot about our culture =/beebop500 said:And just beyond that: how are players going to react when they discover there are no safe zones in the game at all, and that they can be griefed by "leet PvPers" even when standing in town? I'm sorry, but Western audiences really do not need to be playing these so-called "open-world PvP" games. We have far too many elitists and no-lifers amongst our ranks for that, and our player bases do not police themselves as they tend to in the East. This is a miserable failure just waiting to happen.DMKano said:JudgeUK said:I really want this to be a success.
In current state it won't.
The game is completely unfinished and unless Neowiz dedicates another year+ and 100+ developers to getting the game world finished, this will flop HARD in the west.
Once players get in the game world and see that 80%+ is barren wasteland without even grass on the bare texture terrain - they will be like - WTF?
I'm waiting on them to start asking for money up front....Founder's Packs should be on their way soon! LOL
... GW2 as number 1? really? ... i mean i remember some questing, mostly the GvG map.... really? there was a story?!
