"Relaunching" the exact same old game with tiny updates, no new content at all, all the same bugs and pretending it's something new, got to sell the founder packs too. Now they're selling the classes on top, and they've taken out the vehicle reward …
The game is exactly the same as Defiance aside from dumbed down classes. Without a side by side comparison you won't see any graphics differences really, models are identical, etc. Content is exactly the same. Nothing to see here.
It's a really lazy update - they haven't even improved the UI. It's very clearly the exact same game, with no changes to content. The classes have been made simpler, which would be a patch in any other game, not treated as a separate game.
And as f…

@MadFrenchie Any tips for gearing up for low level pvp? I am used to ESO where I could craft really good low level gear, but Rift seems to use a system in which you can't do that.
I got the legs and chest from the planarite merch…
It's still fun to play but I see that one week in they have already added loads of extra items to the cash shop, when everyone is already paying a sub to play and this is very old content. No balancing problems fixed in the patch at all.

If they don't balance classes and tune content people will leave. It's really fun right now but as people get higher in level, especially at cap, they will expect more when paying a sub.

To me, it's like it's the surge in population that makes it so much fun.. and the thought of the cash shop not holding you back.
The question is, why is this better than the real servers? No reason …
It may not be vanilla but it's hugely fun.
I imagine that because the live game is pretty much dead they weren't going to risk putting massive dev time into doing a full vanilla version and so did some tuning and more minor changes to the live game…

Am I missing something here?
If new players want to try it out then they can without any cost on the ftp server.
If you played this game then got fed up with it, what's the attraction of starting again rather than picking up your …

is there any reason to get the special 30$ sub vs the 15?

Some people will of course race to cap but almost everyone is below 20 still. Silverwood is packed and you can go along to any Rift and usually fill a 20 man group. PVP queues are basically instant, though because not many are over 15, dungeons take…

So not all of those are available at creation, right? The suggested builds at creation are a totally different thing.

It's very busy, obviously with everyone in the starter areas. I'm getting a lot of crashes like others but the server hasn't crashed.
It is great to see an almost empty cash shop and everyone playing the game to get rewards.
I know Trion will screw this up because they're Trion but hopefully I'll have fun in the meantime. I miss Rift, after Storm Legion it was pointless playing.
The game could have been all right. It was a bad console port, and after it went free to play it was basically abandoned, long standing bugs never fixed, and progression was based on buying lootboxes. I think the only reason it's still running is …
