Yes F2P (as an option) is the future. Why? Beacuse its better for the game companies AND its better for us players. Choice and flexability is good.

Because EA dont want to make the investment that it takes to make a sucesfull F2P. In contrary to popular belief, F2P is not just flipping a switch... WAR is pretty much dead to them.

GW2 have probably the worst and most defensive fanbase on this site. THere is more threads about why peole bash the game then there are thread actually bashing... Every critizism against GW2 is met with a bunch of fans blaming "themepark burnout" …
