I've played 3 games (and I have tried 50= altogether) that feature a lot of in-game RP - Ultima Online, Ryzom, and Shadowbane.

The official site links to the FilePlanet download, which appears current, so I'd suggest that one. Also, you can no longer purchase the cd's in any store as the game is now free software with no subscription.

I've been following this one for a good while now. The only fear I have is the FPS-style combat. Where you aim is where you swing, shoot, etc... That is a sweet idea on paper, but then the internet comes into play.
