I'm with magarr on this one, if you want F2P, go with 9 Dragons. It has the level of detail and graphics like Guild Wars and the like, but it's completely free. To me, it's one of the most entertaining MMOs out there.

Try rolling your sound card's driver back to a previous version. I have a couple of games that do that too, for some reason.
