Only the dumbest of us can't tell the difference between gameplay and pre-scripted cut-scenes. However the skills, weapons and techniques presented there are all in the game aren't they?

Gonna be a pass for me too. It looks pretty, but the PvP is underwhelming and the PvE is boring. Too many other games on the horizon that look much better and longer lasting.

This will not stop 1 single hacker or gold farmer. That is a fact. It is trivial for people who know anything about the internet to use a proxy. It will stop genuine players who are not as internet savvy however.

Square Enix have admittedly messed up with FFXIV, as much as they are promising to fix it, I don't think it is possible to give it the overhaul it needs to stay competitive with other offerings that are out now, let alone coming in the near future.

The beta key is purely for the beta. There will be a character wipe of course. After you put the key in, you need to download the game (around 15GB), then you can play it.
