I think you will find FFXIV more to your liking.
FFXI was a hardcore game through and through, made for hardcore gamers. Even before endgame, most causual gamers probably quit before reaching 75, so of course the endgame will be dominated by hardc…

LOTRO has always been my haven from the l337 kiddies. The community is really a breath of fresh air. I just hope it stays that way after the F2P switch.
Yes, just like in FFXI (which also charged extra per character) one character can be every class and craft leaving very little reason for alts besides Bank / AH mules.
The best community in recent games in my experiences is LOTRO hands down. I can't count the number of random helpful and mature players I've encountered in the game. Compared to WoW it's like night and day. Some people are worried that the switch t…
The game has turned around for sure. It started when they finally got rid of thier old game director and put in the new guy. It's a pity they didn't use him from the start. Under his watch the game has really jumped in quality.
FFXIV and GW2 seems to be upcoming AAA games that will differ the most from WoW. Both seem to be bringing some great new ideas to genre, and both are being made by companies with a proven track record and large financial resources.
I do feel most zones are small or at least too funneled down set paths, especially since I've just come from lotro where zones there are much larger and sprawling. I wonder how much AoC zones can fit in The Northdowns? :-P
though the expansion…

Hmmm, on that note, perhaps a Wild West MMO isn't such a good idea in th…

Well LOTRO has made out much better than most other post-wow MMOs. Comparing it to WAR and AoC, LOTRO has fared ten times better. 3 years in, and they have not had to merge servers like the other aforementioned games and still have a healthy pop, w…
It's wierd that out of all the iconic zones in LOTRO my most memorable one is one that was only a blurb in the appendix of the books.
I'm talking about Forochel. I LOVED that zone. It was the zone I always look the most forward to taking all my al…

LOL please not Turbine! A STO without opposing player sides would be an abomination! Lotr is pretty but not much else I like about it.
What makes you think Turbine wouldn't have PvP in a star trek game, just because L…
Originally posted by Thillian It's like a Guild Wars model. You pay 200$ up front. Recieve no free-updates, and then pay for each additional content update called miniexpansion packs. This is Lotro's business model since Moria.
Sorry, but that'…
At this point their best bet I think would just be to drop the monthly fee and set up a payment model similar to DDO's. I think it would suit WAR well. The game never really seemed to have enough depth to me to warrant a monthly sub.

Hah, this is like that F2P game (Allods...?) and WoW (where the F2P game almost directly ripped off WoW's UI). Also, World of Lordcraft ripping off... well, you should be able to guess.
That's Alganon, not Allod…
Climate change or no climate change, what is a fact is that oil is a finite resource that we will one day run out of. Even if using it is not changing our climate, isn't it still worthwhile to conserve?
The hype machine should ramp up signifigantly now that FFXIII is out. It's obvious that SE has been holding back on FFXIV both info and marketing-wise, so they can focus consumers and get them hyped for FFXIII before its release.
They've already a…
