It took me 3-4 weeks to get the basics of the game. Everything after that was pure fun.

2 accounts. Main is for PvP, ratting, whatever... Alt is training to be an industrial/manufacturing char. This makes sense for me since I'm in an 0.0 alliance and I need a neutral alt in highsec to deal with all the industrial stuff.
