  • Player's Choice Awards - Most Wanted MMO of 2017 a Awards at MMORPG.com

    Star Citizen 3.0
  • All About the Crown Crates Coming in One Tamriel

The way they are executing is very well done. Nothing from a Crown Crate can be sold or traded for gold and can't impact the economy or provide players any advantage by spending real world cash.

  • To be fair I lasted less than five minutes playing

Have a good, new computer, game runs horribly.

The animation is not that great.

The setting is the same tired, boring nonsense.

Nothing to see here, just another money grab aimed at imbeciles wasting their tattoo money.
I'm so thankful that BDO seems to have this effect on the dim wits.  Keeps the community in game a little nicer.

  • Why do much hate on Star Citizen?

It's not something that is rational at all.  Most of the "nervousness and mistrust" comes from people who have limited understanding of what the developer is actually trying to do.

Many critics have limited understanding about how much money for example it takes to create such an ambitions game, how much time it takes, how the vision has changed over time, and when development actually started.

Once it became clear the entire scope of the game had changed due to the vast amount of money being tossed at them, it was clear to me that a full year would be lost just staffing up and training the studios to get the job done.  Other's don't get that.

Others completely understand but have used the popularity as a platform to promote themselves by claiming it's impossible.

  • The Obstacle of Combat - Elder Scrolls Online Columns

This is where our experiences with the game diverge greatly. Though I respect your experience as a "first impression", It's just that.

ESO's combat includes Blocking, Dodge Rolling, Heavy and Light Attacks, Weapon Ability use, and Skill Ability use and in my opinion is one of the best active combat systems in any MMO. I say this because it is not over active bouncing everywhere, but deliberate.

Each time you use any of the above (block, dodge roll, heavy or light attack, weapon ability, skill ability) you make a choice because of the amount of time it takes to animate that skill/ability/attack. But there is no global cooldown like other games. Smooth combat comes from knowing your attacks and which ones you will execute and when to do so.

Others will mention animation canceling and what they are saying is basically that some attacks can be followed up with another type of attack and when you do so it executes faster than having to wait for the full animation. If there is any flaw in the combat it's not shorting the animation of these few attacks to reflect what's actually happening. However as you play and become more comfortable with your attacks, you just inherently know when to hit your next attack because of familiarity with it.

Once you complete Veteran Maelstrom Arena, please re-review combat. At that point, I will surely consider your perspective more than a first impression.
  • So Blizzard has made a clone.

It's what Blizzard does well.  Takes the idea of an existing game, makes it accessible and polished and releases.

World of Warcraft wasn't original, but it was well done.  Same with many other Blizzard games.  They are sticking with what they do well.

I love when people post stuff like this.. Come back after you have sinked XX amount of time into the game or done raiding before you opinion matters. Like people are really going to wait tell endgame to say if a game is bad or not. You know within the 1st hour or so if something feels good or not. You can make the call at that point rather you enjoy the combat or questing or whatever else. There is no need to go play endgame combat and then come back. Cause really if the combat is not fun right out the bat that is not going to change in XX amount of time.
It's fair to criticize my "VMA" suggestion, but what I really meant is that since combat can be very different depending on the class and weapons you are using, you can often have a skewed impression when you don't have broad exposure to the combat across the game.  When classes and skills play very differently depending on player choice sometimes a first impression is not a thorough review.

    Fair enough?
  • Elder Scrolls Online - To Trinity or Not to Trinity? - MMORPG.com

ESO is most certainly a Trinity based game.

In overland questing and normal Dungeons you have flexibility to do content without an optimized group.

In harder content such as Veteran Dungeons, you're not doing it without a tank and heals. (You can however run with a healing tank and 3 DPS, etc) and you have a lot of versatile builds with which you can accomplish this.

When you move to Veteran Trials, you do have to have a much more optimized group and there are builds which excel beyond most make it easier to succeed.

Your ability to play different roles on any class however do make the game more inclusive and the diversity of builds isn't matched by any other MMO at the moment in my opinion. This however does allow for bad builds that just don't work well, but I prefer the freedom to find that out myself.

  • Now Built with Lumberyard & 2.6 with Star Marine Launches - Star Citizen - MMORPG.com

I'm not so sure about the use of the term "partner".  Having a game with the publicity of Star Citizen as an example of what Dev's can do with their engine is a huge win for Amazon.

It's very possible that they don't view CIG as a customer, but as a way to market their Engine.
