Galactic Senate Weekly Report
Friday, 29th September 2006
Welcome to this week's Galactic Senate Report! This is a summary of what the Galactic Senators have done this week and what's been happening in the Senate forums.
Group xp Gain Rates, by BadgerSmaker
A discussion to clarify how group xp gain works--including the problems
and issues with the current system--results in the draft of a guide to
understand how the system works. Several Senators lend support for
grouping being a good way to meet new people as part of the leveling
process. The issue of mission terminals that are level-capped is also
brought up. Thunderheart says he will get the guide added once it's all finished and offers to look for answers on any specific questions that come up.
Player Cities in the GCW, by Khristen
: After several related discussions show up in the public forums, Khristen
brings up one of the past discussions about the role of Player Cities in the GCW (you can view the previous response here
). No response.
Why don't Smuggling and Bounty Hunter Missions grant Experience?, by Glzmo
The suggestion is made for missions from terminals to grant a small
amount of xp (equivalent to repeatable quests) to take away some of the
grind feel of gaining experience as well as fitting in better with the
current quest-driven xp system. Psychopyro80
also asks what became of the plan to introduce profession-specific missions for all the professions. Thunderheart states
that granting experience for missions would be a great idea if all the
professions had them, but it would be a clear inequity if only those
two professions had experience from missions as an option.
Can We Get the Official Word on All-Purpose Ship Repair Kits?, by Elyssa
: The thread is bumped to see if any updates or additional news is available. Thunderheart had previously replied that he would check and see if the removal of All-Purpose Ship Repair Kits was intentional or a bug.
Request for clarification on extra inventory deed, by MoyaWookiee
After hearing reports from players that the extra inventory deed is not
working on some structures, clarification is requested on the item. Elyssa
shares a link to the official post
about the veteran reward. After discovering that the deed should work on any player structure with an inventory, MoyaWookiee
asks whether players experiencing problems should file a ticket to get the issue resolved. No response.
Condemned Structures Need to Go, by Khristen
: Since the community desire for a pack-up of inactive housing seems to be having technical difficulties, Khristen
that the bug be fixed that keeps condemned structures around
indefinitely. When the auto-deduct/condemned structure maintenance
system was first put in, structures were supposed to be destroyed after
6 months in a condemned state. BadgerSmaker
that they be left alone until the game is in a more finished state so
that returning players still have their stuff, but Khristen
and other Senators state that it is more important to take care of the paying customers than those who have stopped playing. No response.
Pretty please?, by Meatpuppet1987
: A request for the return of clone cybernetics is made, noting that it was the only way to get cybernetic legs. No response.
Station Access Collection Says SWG Starter Kit..., by Psychopyro80
The Starter Kit came with the Instant Travel Vehicle as a reward, but
the Starter Kit included with the Station Access Collection does not.
It is a marketing issue since there are people who bought the Station
Access Collection under the assumption that they were getting the
Starter Kit and reward. Still no response.
Thank you for BH Terminal Update, by SamousNemo
Thanks are expressed for the change to Bounty Hunter mission
descriptions and titles. After reading a thread in the BH forums SamousNemo
asks what the possibilities of adding the mark's profession would be.
The pros and cons of that suggestion is discussed. No response.
Please remove Clone Sickness from the Restuss Faction Cloners, by Marrow1
: Noting that death at the static bases do not result in clone sickness, Marrow1
that it also be removed from Restuss. The failure of allowing Clone
Sickness to be cured via an Entertainer is also discussed. No response.
Tired of Arguing With CS, by Psychopyro80
Discussions about player issues with CSRs continue, with more examples
being cited from various threads on the forums. Requests that CSRs/GMs
stop threatening players with harassment for multiple tickets and
putting the closing of the ticket back into the hands of the player are
made. Thunderheart replies that
he will get clarification on the ITV and Tansarii Point Station added
into the description as well as passing on the information. He also
says he will look into issues with Summit Paintings not being rewarded
after MoyaWookiee reports not being able to claim hers.
Spy function in Smuggler system?, by Psychopyro80
: A typo in the patch notes is questioned when it mentions Spies as part of the Underworld Faction system. Thunderheart lets
us know that it was something they wanted to include but technical
challenges got it the way; the erroneous patch note has been corrected.
Urgent Bug: Bounty Hunter Terminals are Blank, by SamousNemo
: The Chapter 3 patch caused Bounty Hunter terminals to go completely blank. Customer Service lets us know that the team is aware of the situation; a fix has since been patched in.
CS question: broken crafting station = broken OR hilt = player SOL?, by Pawlin
After a report that a player who did not know the crafting station they
were trying to use was broken ended up with no experimentation on their
Old Repblic hilt, Pawlin
if the CSR response that the player should have checked whether the
station was broke before crafting is correct. That response suggests
that players should automatically assume that everything is broken by
defualt. Several bugs with crafting stations are discussed as well as
possible solutions to avoid players losing out on hard-to-get
schematics (such as requiring the schematic to have a private crafting
station). No response.
Request: The Same Level of Communication for Chapter 4, by Elyssa
Noting the outstanding dev communication during the development of
Chapter 3, that level of communication is requested for Traders in
Chapter 4...and for all players going forward. No response.
Smuggler Illicit Item Drops in New Player Tutorial, by Psychopyro80
: After getting several drops of illicit goods in space in the tutorial Psychopyro80
asks what the purpose of having them there is. Glzmo
also asks why these items are No Trade. No response.
Filtering the Combat Log, by Elyssa
: A request to be able to filter out nearby combat log entries and show only that character's combat log items is made. BadgerSmaker
suggests chat color filters as an option. No response.
Officer summoned Pets and Airstrike abilities should utilize faction specific art assets, by BadMisterFrosty
: A desire for faction-specific artwork to be used for GCW-aligned players is expressed. No response.
PvE >> PvP for GCW point grinding, by Marrow1
: Relating initial live playtesting results on GCW point gain, Marrow1
points out that it is much easier to gain GCW points through PvE means than it is using PvP. No response.
Chapter 3: Problems With Crackdown Scans, by Glzmo
Reports that the Crack-Down scans are bugged with Chapter 3 are brought
up, mainly that pre-Chapter 3 Colonels are still seen as Colonels and
Smuggler Sly Lie & Fast Talk abilities don't work on contraband
scans. No response.
We Could Really Use Some Solid Info on the GCW Points System, by Khristen
There are many players, including the Senators, who have questions on
the specifics of the new GCW Ranking System. Various questions from
the community are gathered to help focus what information is needed and
what is already out there. No response.
GCW Points, are they capped?, by BadMisterFrosty
: Echoing questions asked in a previous thread, BadMisterFrosty
asks whether earned points are capped or whether they will carry over to the next cycle. No response.
Quo Vadis Galactic Civil War?, by BadMisterFrosty
What happens to the GCW when developers are ready to move on to the
next project? Many of the things that had been talked about, such as
mini-puzzles for base take-downs, didn't happen. Concerns that the GCW
will not get as much attention as other aspects of the game are
expressed. No response.
