The Galactially pointless update for 9/22: No response

Discussion Summary

(NEW) Is Marauder Assault Armor on Live?, by Elyssa:
It's been on Test Center since the Combat Upgrade, but has never been
put into the live game.  Hopes that it will be added with the Trader
revamp are expressed.  No response.

(NEW) Alert!  We're at Critical Mass on Vehicles!, by Elyssa
Vehicles in the datapad are currently limited at 6, but that leaves few
options for players with quest or reward vehicles to add crafted
vehicles.  A request for either more vehicle slots or the ability to
redeed vehicles that have been placed in the datapad is made to
alleviate this problem.  Being able to redeed datapad vehicles would
also make character transfers more palatable in cases with
one-per-account rewards.  No response.

(CONTINUED) Is combat supposed to be this easy to escape?, by SamousNemo: Noticing a trend with expertise with burst run and snare-breaking abilities, SamousNemo questions whether this is what combat is going to be like going forward?  After a statement by swgmod002
that the increased speed for Narrow Escape is indeed a bug (which
should not be considered an exploit to use on TC until it is fixed), SamousNemo reevaluates
his initial judgement since Officer specials do not grant snare
immunity: if Bounty Hunters and Commandos could get access to their
damage specials with melee weapons, things would look fine.  Thunderheart
remarks that when issues like this come up it is important to remember
that overly emotional posts because you lost in PvP are not going to
have as much weight as posts with solid information in them like
numbers and specifics.  swgmod002
related the information about Narrow Escape in the Smuggler forum at
the above link, but also stated in the Senate forums that the Narrow
Escape ability was incorrectly assigned the Jedi Force Run ability;
that has since been fixed on Test Center to the current desnare ability.

(NEW) Station Access Collection Says SWG Starter Kit..., by Psychopyro80:
The Starter Kit came with the Instant Travel Vehicle as a reward, but
the Starter Kit included with the Station Access Collection does not.
It is a marketing issue since there are people who bought the Station
Access Collection under the assumption that they were getting the
Starter Kit and reward.  No response.

(CONTINUED) Question About the New TC Installation Method, by Elyssa:
Questions on how the new way of patching and installing Test Center
works, such as how the TC .tre files will be handled, are brought up.
Also requested is a way to avoid having to login and accept the EULA a
second time when playing on Test Center without having to create a
second icon/shortcut.  Thunderheart
lets us know that creating a shortcut link to Test Center is
technically not supported so if there are issues you are on your own.
He also confirms that the old Test Center file is not automatically
purged, but will not be used anymore.  Tereb
stops in to say that the retail version will not use anything from the
TestCenter folder.  You can copy over the patch files manually to save
time, but since it is not supported (or encouraged) he strongly
recommends running a Full Scan to see if any changes were made to the
file.  He is using the background downloader whenever he can, so we
should see improvements on patch day as far as download times with BITS
enabled.  Old .tre files will be removed from the Test Center folder
when they are no longer needed as new things to test are introduced.

(NEW) The economy, inflation, lack of money sinks. by Pawlin:
Is SOE still monitoring the game economy to balance the amount of money
in and out?  Is inflation under control?  Are more money sinks going to
be added?  These questions start a discussion about the game economy,
past and present, and what players spend their credits on.  Pawlin remarks
that it is difficult for players to know how the economy is functioning
because we can't see the flow of money in and out of the game.  Khristen adds
that the massive reduction of Player City and structure fees
drastically cut down on the amount of money leaving the game.  The
discussion turns to crafters vs. loot after the old stereotype of
"blood sucking" crafters is dragged out.  Sources of income and where
money is exchanging hands in the current game are also discussed.  No response.

(NEW) If I Were a New Player, I'd Quit!, by Psychopyro80: After digging some old characters out of mothballs, Psychopyro80 relates
his frustrations in getting set up to play.  Attempting to find the
items he was looking for on the vendor search/bazaar was virtually
impossible using the current interface.  Jedi are unable to get
robes/armor except by looting it themselves because of No Trade
restrictions.  Species-restricted clothing drops at a much lower rate
than what human/zabrak/rodian/bothan can wear.  If someone does not
have a guild or a group of friends to rely on, it is rough to get
going.  Marrow1 adds
that the Legacy quests are also frustrating, particularly when compared
to being able to group and hunt which is not as viable for leveling.  Thunderheart suggests
using the min/max price options when searching for things like ship
components to make sorting easier.  If given the right information the
bazaar/vendor search function can be helpful.

(NEW) Profession Movies Bugged?, by Elyssa: After doing some respecing, Elyssa noticed that the profession movies would not play for her.  Glzmo comes
to the rescue with the answer, noting that disabling cut scenes
(Mustafar) also disables profession movies from playing.  Both comment
that having the cut screen play every time is annoying--unless it could
be made so that you were actually loading during that time, i.e. in
place of the loading screen.  No response.

(NEW) Community Building, by BadgerSmaker: Bored of just chasing bugs, BadgerSmaker starts a discussion to see what we could do to rebuild some of the community on various servers.  Esharra shares her experiences with community meetings of guild leaders on Chilastra.  BadMisterFrosty relates his past participation on the Gorath server and the German community.  Khristen joins in with the efforts of her guild and cities efforts to encourage role-playing on Naritus as well as the List of Active In-Game Roleplayers  in the Naritus server forum.  No response.

(NEW) Respec Issues and GM Feedback, by Elyssa: After having respec issues which were fixed by a CSR, Elyssa points
out that the text of "How respecs work" that was put into her ticket
was unclear.  Initially it states that there are two types of
professions when there is actually three.  No response.

(NEW) Volunteers to judge Battle of the Bands, by Esharra: The cross-server Battle of the Bands will take place on Spetember 30th on Chilastra.  Esharra asks fellow Senators if anyone would be willing to volunteer to judge the event.

(NEW) Spice and Smuggling, by Marrow1: One
of the largest design issues players seem to have with the new
Smuggling system is that there is no real repeatability to the
missions.  Marrow1 suggests adding spice in as a reward.  Pros, cons and specifics are discussed and refined.  No response.

(NEW) Stop Spawn Camping AND Increase Hunting XP, by Psychopyro80: Currently you can only get Elite missions on Corellia with Nyax missions, but Psychopyro80 suggests making it so that all terminals and missions have a chance to spawn Elite/Boss missions.  Khristen points
out that it would be necessary to fix mission terminals in Player
Cities so that they all spawn level-appropriate missions rather than
only terminals placed pre-CU; missions on habitable planets are
currently capped to the spawn levels of the "Hunter's Maps" instead of
to player level.  Glzmo adds
that they were changed to protect lower-level players from wandering
into high level mission spawns, but that protection was negated by
putting unmarked PvP zones in areas that the Legacy Quests take you
through.  No response.

(NEW) I'm a 4333...uhm...Box 14 Pilot, by Elyssa: How
do you know what your level is if you're not looking at a combat
profession?  There is no adequate way to express what level you are for
professions that are not determined by CL.  Displays for the other
professions need some help.  No response.

(NEW) Making Jedi Mind Trick more useful and iconic in the process, by Glzmo:
The lack of usefulness to taking the Jedi Mind Trick line of abilities
is brought up along with suggestions to make it more effective.  Making
that line of skills more along the lines of the Sly Lie and Fast Talk
abilities to confuse NPCs would make it a more useful set of skills by
letting a Jedi try to avoid combat.  No response.

(NEW) Traders Need to Control Vendor Appearance, by Elyssa:
Lack of control over vendor appearance is a huge headache for Traders.
Players need to be able to control the appearance of vendors either at
vendor creation or through Entertainers.  No response.

(NEW) Helios' 5-Day Faction Switch Thread, by Elyssa: A thread is started in the Senate forums to consolidate feedback in relation to Helios_SOE's public discussion thread.  No response.

(NEW) Viewscreen printers and Picture Printers missing key component, by Pawlin:
All parts for the Viewscreen Printers and Picture Printers are now
dropping as loot with the exception of the Broken Hand-Held
Viewscreen.  Without that, all the other pieces are junk that cannot be
used.  No response.

(NEW) How can we solve a problem like TC?, by Red-Dwarf: In an effort to improve the testing environment that is supposed to keep game-affecting bugs from hitting the live servers, Red-Dwarf starts
a discussion about the current state of the Test Center server and what
issues are being faced.  His suggestion is to set up two Test Center
servers: TC-Prime as a "like-live" test sever and TC2 as a "playtest"
server with permanent frogs.  The Senators discuss the benefits and
challenges of the proposed system.  No response.

(NEW) Please Holster All Weapons, by Elyssa: After sitting in the Theed starport, Elyssa notices
that the announcement to "Please holster all weapons and and deactivate
all explosive devices" is generally followed by someone running through
the starport with a gun in hand or open warfare that has spilled in
from outside the starport.  Glzmo offers
suggestions to make the starport a weapon-free zone--as well as
frustrations over the name of "Mos Eisley Starport" instead of "Mos
Eisley Spaceport".  No response.

(CONTINUED) And the fight will start again, by Psychopyro80: The discussion is bumped by BadMisterFrosty as
he brings some of the Senator discussion in his public thread about On
Leave status into the Senate forums.  The importance of player-choice
and the need for the On Leave option is emphasized by most of the
Senators as BadMisterFrosty tries to make his case for the removal of the On Leave status.  No response.

(CONTINUED) Logitech G15 keyboard?, by Meatpuppet1987: The discussion about possible features and support for the Logitech G15 keyboard is resurrected by ThunderheartHe states a last call for suggestions and requests as the team is in pre-planning support for the keyboard.

(CONTINUED) Classic (Bugged) Elevator Controls, by Elyssa: More problem locations are added to the list.  Thunderheart had previously stickied the thread for easy reference and reporting.

(NEW) Request: Change the Kenobi's Legacy & other cold weapons' elemental damage, by Glzmo: After the Smuggler dagger and knucklers were changed from cold damage, Glzmo remarks
that development seems to be aware of the fact that elemental cold
damage is not useful.  A request that weapons and crystals that do cold
damage be changed to something useful is made.  No response.

How long is it going to take the Senators to realize that when it comes down to it, except for their French Yellow forum color and super secret forum, SOE doesn't listen or give a shit about them?

When they finally do it's going to be really funny to read of the breakdown.  There are 2-3 bigtime arrogant assclowns there (Elyssa, BadgerSmaker for two) who think their shit doesn't stink and their piss is beer.

Well I don't know about the rest of you, but I am simply elated that they're getting around to providing support for the Logitech G15 keyboard.  This game will be immeasurably improved with this addition.

The GS will always stand out in my mind as one of the worst possible customer service ideas I have ever heard of existing.

Hey I have a great idea... We'll take some of our customers, give them fancy titles and a hidden forum and tell the rest of our customers that we listen to their ideas ahead of any feedback we get from the rest of them. Then, when we make changes that no one likes we'll imply we were listening to the hidden forum and set the customers against themselves!

Well, if this bastard Badgerbanger didn't treat current players like shit and drive them away, he wouldn't have that problem.

Or classic servers... that'd fix it.

But it's just the $OE kool-aid. They ACTUALLY think they can do something to the nge and make us all rush back. Idiots.

I'd personally rather get another military funded root canal than deal with these sanctimonious, holier than thou f--ktards myself. Maybe if these 'tards quit focusing on "what can we do to bring them back" and instead focused on "where did we screw up, let's roll it back to that and fix it properly", they would realize the way to actually restore faith in jacked over customers is by unscrewing the issue and actually taking care of the customer for a change, not by holding "internal focus groups" and press conferences that, when filtered down, don't really say jack shit.

Yep, they all think there is going to be some magic publish that suddenly breaks open the gates and players, new and old, flood in and SWG reaches old and new highs in subs.

Uh, ain't gonna happen.  The only gate that is going to be broke down is the door at SOE when Sony goes into receivership.

SOE never ceases to amaze me, not only in their inability to understand what their customers want, but their inability to create or manage a functioning system that could enable them to learn what their customers want.

They know damn well what their customers want.  They are just unwilling to admit it because that'd mean having to do something about it.

I would be certain at that point something was up.  SOE usually throws those dogs some kind of bone.  Could it be their usefulness has expired?  Well, I know YOU think they have never been useful, but I meant as mouthpieces for SOE.

Those are the dogs.  The Senators don't represent us in any way.  And they have been proven completely useless.  That is why they get no info.

BadgerSmaker is the one senator I will openly say is a #1 assclown.  The rest of them I won't fault for trying to bring some help to this shell of a game.  But badgerboinker is a moron.  I lost respect of him/her when the only response he could come up with to a well thought out and respectful anti-NGE post was "CMN".  What a tool....  Dude lives in his mom's basement while masterbating to anime.  I know it.....
