I am a born American. No i am not NA indian, but to be an american you dont have to be NA indian... sheesh even they didnt orginate in America.
Anyways... America for good or bad is a great country! Some of the actions of government are questionable and some are down right WRONG! But through it all we are still looked upon by the world as a country of hope, change and a better tomorrow. Millions from all over the world whether their country is well of or not still migrate to America in search of chance to do better for them selves. That can never be disputed.
So I say again America is Great! We let you practice your own religion, voice your opnion ( doesnt matter if it is heard or not), and given the chance to the pursuit of a better life.
We may not be perfect, but until some other country becomes bigger and better we are all you got.

right....
I find the European Union to be a great alternative. And if I were to migrate outside the EU, I'd probably move to Australia before I'd consider moving to the US. I guess it is second in my list of 'countries worth migrating to for me', however, and certainly wouldn't mind living there!

Well thats your problem, isn't it? When people talk about football, then they mean the thing you call soccer, and not that sport you call football that nobody outside the US gives a damn about. its not my fault America couldn't think of a diffrent name for their sport.

If I am correct, this was a thread about the United States of America. If one were to throw the term "football" out there, as you did, then everyone who read the title of the thread would assume you were talking about football that is played in the states. Perhaps you should think about that next time you get your panties in a wad over semantics.

America is a great country and has done some very good things in its past and also bled with my countrymen in wars past that cost many lives. You export a big chunk of cultre with your movies, music and sports and are huge in size &diversity.
What I dont like is certain policies currently or previously implemented that have had very bad end results but to be honest I would rather America as a world leader over China or Russia any day. I really hope voters change the way politics is done and less lobbyist influence can set America on the right path.
The next 10 years are going to be crucial and how America handles its problems will affect the whole world so I really hope they get it right. I also forgot to mention that kinda dont like the confederate flag waving racist redneck or super religious Americans as they scare the hell outta me lol.

Soccer is played in the states. Go up to some random Joe and ask if he saw the football game, and see if he asks you about Brazil vs. England.

I'm sorry, but what exactly is your point?you used an american dictionary, duh. The official name for the game you call soccer is football. if I Ask about football in ANY country besides NA then I get an answer about Brazil vs. Englan. if I was talking about your football, then I would have called it American Football. I see no reason to make a change of wording just because Americans decided to name one sport the same as another.

Dictionary.com tends to disagree, saying the sport behind the name "football" has nothing to do with long haired euros crying their eyes out when they get kicked in the shin.

EVERY COUNTRY in the world calls the sport football (or a translation of it). NA is the only place they talk about a diffrent sport when talking about football.

Just because it is ABOUT america does not mean I have to talk "American-ish". If we have a topic about Germany, then we don't suddenly speak in german.

I was comparing it to rugby, actually. But yes, I think American Football is wimpy even compared to the real football which I dislike aswell. I can see why some would enjoy it, but let's not glorify it into something that it is not.
