They really are different games. About the only thing you can say is that they both have a grind.
However, it seems from the little I've played Ryzom, that the PvP is consensual.
Also, Ryzom has a skill based system where you level up your skills and even create some from your existing skills.
Lineage 2 is an open PvP game with a harsh economy. You have your stereotypical archetypes (nuker, Damage dealer, healer, tank, buffer etc) as oppose to Ryzom characters which can pretty much do it all it seems, should you put in enough time.
Ryzom seems to be a game that is great for roleplayers or people who just want to find their own way. L2 allows for some open play but the idea really centers around PvP and castle sieges/clan wars.
Also, L2 is more anime Fantasy where ryzom is more Sci-fi/fantasy.
the world of Ryzom seems to be a bit more alive because the fauna is a bit more engaged with their surroundings and you. Plus they have weather.
L2 will be adding some weather to the next update but only in certain areas. Also, though there are sounds of wildlife, there is no wildlife.
Getting back to the econony. L2 has a harsh economy where the higher you go the harder it is to obtain the equipment you want. However, once you have the equipment, short of dropping it in battle, it doesn't degrade.
Ryzom, from what I've read, has an easier economy where higher lvl players seem to have what they need. However, their equipment degrades and you can't fix it. So you have to constantly be creating new equipment.
When fighting in L2, the camera will swing around naturally or wherever you place it. I've noticed taht in Ryzom, the camera will "suddenly" put you in a certain frame which can be a bit disconcerting. You can move it but attack and watch your point of reference suddenly "change" to the camera right behind you.

I found that extreamly annoying also in Ryzom. It just "pops" you back directly behind the toon. Overall, Ryzom was missing a certain level of "completeness" about it. It seems there is missing focus which is the primary enemy of the game. People join it, bump around for a bit, can find anything else to do but kill animals then leave.
I said this about a year ago the first time I tried Ryzom and it still applies today....watching animals pee in the rain is no substitute for acual content.
OP, here is my reply on your duplicate thread on the main board

I the camera controls in L2!
IMO L2 was better than Ryzom, I guess that is why I am now playing L2.
But yea, Sovroth covered most.

Yeah, the camera controls in Ryzom make it feel "junky". Which is a shame becuase I don't really feel it is a junky game.
Quite frankly, if you are a roleplayer then Ryzom seems to be the game for you. The People are also extremely nice.
