What types of Ads would you find most offensive on MMORPG?

lol There is a 1 vote for each of them making each selection 25%. I know mmorpg gets money from these ads, but I find it strange that the community can't talk about trading accounts, but the ads sure can.

Anyway, I think religious ads would be by far the most offensive. Doesn't really matter what religion, it's been proven time and time again on these forums that people are offended by any opinion you might have on religion. If there was an ad saying "Praise God!", or something I'd be extremely offended, but if there was an ad saying "There is no God!", or something similar, there are many on this site that would, if you'll excuse the term, shit a brick. Even if the ad was just supporting a religious institution, like some sort of "Christian Gamers Society," or something. I know I'd leave if they had that type of ad...

I think you are way too concerned about religion.... I should be permanently offended by yourstandards then... since all we see in games today is people praising the devil, chaos, evil...., demons, succubi... Being gamers we constantly see things showing how great it is to be evil... but we dont get angry... Cuz we understand that it's not real... that's not how people really are.... But you're reason for not wanting to see "Christian Games Society" seems excessive....

Really i think that's a really hypocritical thing to say... Since you have shown to not be offended by games that Romanticize the Devil..... and hell... and demons.... Which are Entirely Religious beliefs... If you saw an ad that said... "Are you ready for the coming of Mephisto Lord of Hell" you would be excited... but if you saw an ad saying "Are you ready for the Coming of God" you would be offended... ... It's very hypocritical man..

What the hell are you talking about, man? My comment was that either way people would be offended? And where are you getting that I like games that romantacize the devil? I assure you, I don't. I'm offended when someone suggests that the Devil exist, the same as when they suggest that God is real, just not so much so because people don't claim the devil controls me. They don't claim "Oh, you have to do what the Devil tells you, or you'll burn forever."

Seriously, when the hell did I "show myself to not be offended by games that Romanticize the Devil..... and hell... and demons...."? They're both annoying bullshit, and I don't need to listen to you preaching. I would not be excited about an ad saying "Are you ready for the coming of Mephisto Lord of Hell" because those games always suck. Heaven and hell are far too engrained in our society. People just throw the words about, without thinking of the fact that they're referencing religion. It's annoying as hell. Yeah, see? People say stuff like that all the time. My original post, however, wasn't at all biased. If you thought it was, you misread it. All I said, again, was that no matter what it said, if it was religious, someone would be offended.

How can someone be offended by an ad? I can see someone being offended by an ad that goes against their country or religion in a hurtful way, but if seeing an ad for IGE or PowerLevelers offends you I want to know why. It just seems really strange that someone could get worked up over something like this.

I voted Porn. It's really pretty simple when you think about it. Young kids come to this site. Kids are involved in gaming. I don't care if young kids see ads for games, gold selling/farming, or even ANY religion as Kuzzle was so quick to point out as long as it's all done in taste. But do kids REALLY need to be exposed to sex ads on a site like this? I'd think not.

Mmorpg.com isn't the place to have religious ads... But to say that you would leave Mmorpg.com because an ad with something related to religion like "Christian Gamers Society" is really retarded.... Firstly, I remember Electronic Gaming Monthly(Or was is Computer Gaming World?) ran an article on Religious guilds, or something like that, so I don't see it as any more unlikely for an ad for such a thing to appear here.
There's a difference between borrowing from mythology and claiming myths should determine someone's actions. Also, it's not "retarded" for me to leave a place because it favbors beliefs that are not my own. If I didn't leave, I would eventually get banned, you see. Because I would invariably get into arguements with people over religion, since nobody seems to be able take a comment...

Of course I wouldn't have a problem with it, but I know others would, and I stated that. All I said is that it would cause issues. I covered both sides, and I didn't say "So long as they don't say god exists, it'll be ok. People who are religious are fucking retards!" You seem to have taken offense at something that I, quite frankly, don't understand, and I'm sorry you feel that way.

Again, I feel that if this site catered to a religious crowd, I would not be allowed to post my thought or beliefs without either:

A: Being flames until an arguement started, in which case I would eventually say something and get banned, even though it was no more extreme than what other people were posting, it was just on the opposite end from what the admins support, or...

B: I'd just get banned for saying my beliefs because the admins don't approve.

Either way, it's probably best to just walk away... Secondly You Clearly dont believe that the selling/buying of gold/items/accounts is wrong... But you are still here at MMORPG.com... despite you disagreeing with it... you are still here today right? So how is it that one thing that is against your beliefs warrants leaving while another does not?

Thirdly... if MMORPG.com ran an ad for that game I showed "Left Behing" Would that mean that MMORPG.com is catering to religious people and no one else? Or would that mean they are just catering to Everyone? Does that now give all the religious people on MMORPG.com a 18foot ban stick to kill all the atheists? NO.. all it means is that that game company paid MMORPG.com to run an ad... They dont have to agree with it....

Yeah, I just realized how stupid the thing about Stargate Worlds was... I don't often watch Stargate SG1, and had forgotten about the whole "higher plane" thing they did in that one episode. Other than that, I seem to remember them refering to some of the supposedly magical things as "advanced technology" several times.

Star Gate is the Most religious television show I've ever watched... And there's probably a reason why there aren't more sci-fi games... Although I'm not gonna say it .... I'm sure you know what I'm thinking of LOL

i picked none, because they are all annoying as hell, the adds on this website are fine with me though because most of them are contests, like take the one i'm looking at right now for Archlord...it pertains to why I am actaully looking on the website so I'm fine with it.

Yeah europe getting angry at that ad is a little warranted... Since it's basically showing a black woman being subserviant to a white woman... and pretty much saying white is better than black (Thats how some people have looked at it)... It's an understandable complaint Since most of the people who would have seen that ad probably dont know anything about video games or what playstation is... That ad would have worked better if it stuck to a specific area like the playstation websites or so....

But realistically just looking at the ad itself... and understanding what they are trying to say.. I think it's pretty silly...

Just thought I'd put my two cents in.

Games are costing HUGE bucks to develop (unless you are Introversion legends Uplink: Hacker Elite is the greatest game EVER!) I have learnt to accept adverts in games just like pre movie ad's at the cinema. The biggest problem I've got is when users spam the #General channel saying "Checkout my e-bay store for level 50 characters!!! All maxed out!!! All cheap!!!" repeat ad infinutum. These people don't care that there is a #Trade channel and refuse to swap over
