Gibson's Anti-Semitic Tirade -- Alleged Cover Up

I remember when "Passion of Christ" came out and all the Christian churches around here were buying group tickets to go see it.  There were big discussions on the radio shows with countless people calling in talking about how the movie was not meant to be anti-semitic.  There were also a lot of Jews calling in saying that it was. 

I also remember one of the arguments being that Mel Gibson wasn't anti-semitic so how could he produce a movie that is. 

Well...

I wonder how many of you gave him your money so he could, "own Malibu"?

       Yeah, well, I refused to go that movie. I haven't seen a Mel Gibson movie since that movie came out... Just didn't feel like supporting any religious controversy, 'specially one I don't agree with. Wait, did Signs come out before or after it? I went to see that one in theaters because the rest of my family wanted to watch it...

    Quick question though. How reputable is tmz.com? I'm not disputing the story, but in the past week I've seen 2 "news" stories hit the off topic forums that had posters tricked until someone pointed out details that meant the stories were obviously faked.

    Typically fake stories are meant to be humorous and this one seems a little too serious to be a joke. So I'll put in the "probably real" category where it awaits for evidence. In that case, its a shame when someone has so many things going for them, and they become a victim of their own success and indulgence.

    I linked to it off of Drudge Report.  I don't think he would put something up that's not reputable.  Especially something critical of a right wing person.

    Are you saying that Passion of the Christ was anti-semitic because what? it recited history? said it like it was?...

    Gibson is wierd... Movie wasn't an idea or his vision alone, he didn't come up with the idea of having jews there......... They were there.. plain and simple.....

    Thats like me saying that Flight 93 (the movie) was anti muslim....

    I didn't say it.  Go back and read what I wrote.  I said that JEWS calling into the radio stations said it was anti-semitic. 

    I didn't even see the movie.  Don't care to see it.  I'm just quoting what I heard on the radio.  Argue with the Jews.

    Besides the fact I don't think I'll be getting info from a tabloid and some blogger who has "McCain, Clinton held Vodka-drinking contest" what the hell do I care if he's anti-semetic when he is or isn't piss drunk? Look at some of the comments in that massive Isreal attacks Lebanon thread. Is that any better?

    And I'll give you the gyst of the movie. Romans whip the piss out of Jesus, then crucify him. There, I saved you 2+ hours of your life.

    That McCain and Clinton story is a link to The New York Times.  Go back and look.

    Since when is The New York Times a blogger?  

    And I can honestly say I have never read anything on DrudgeReport that wasn't true.  He's not a tabloid.  It's where a lot of people get their news from.  If you consider DrudgeReport a tabloid then tell me one story he has put up that's turned out to be false.

    They just had this story on CNN and they didn't mention the Anti-semetic stuff at all.. Only he had a DUI.

    I have no idea who or what the DrudgeReport is, I'm referring to that first link that has a do you still love Mel poll at the bottom of the story as a tabloid.

    My point is who the hell cares about Gibson and his thoughts, because he made some crappy movies (not including Braveheart)

    This is not the same story I heard, I'm not a passion of the Christ fan, (havn't seen it, nor will I, I don't like when people capitolize on things like that, and it focuses on the wrong aspect of Christianity)

    But anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if much of this story turned out to be fake...the story that I heard FIRST was that he was simply cited and released at the department without further incident.

    Cover up? maybe, but I know that there are a lot of people who want to discredit mel gibson and this would be their perfect opportunity. 

    To be honest, I feel bad for Mel, he was sober for a long time and fell off the wagon, sucks.

    Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

    So South Park did a correct impersonation he is crazy lol?? Honeslty I think its all being blown outta proportion and lots of people get DUI's they just pay fine or serve time but I guess being a celeb means having dung flung at ya by the media.

    I wonder why ppl who never saw the "Passion of Christ" bash it relentlessly, i loved the movie, i wont see it a second time, i had tears falling down at least for half the movie... Kind of when i saw "Grave of the fireflies"...

    don't know if he was anti-semitic or not but i think it was the jews who persecuted Jesus(no offense meant).
    the movie was violent, gory but i think it didn't came close to the real thing, if you know what i mean..

    Yeah I agree Harikiri.... This was just a portrayal of what happened.... People should stop apologizing for the truth though... Jews persecuted Jesus... But that was also 2000 years ago... get over it.... Thats like me making a movie about the Holocaust... and then the movie being critized for being anti-german...... Like WHAt the F? Can't people just tell history anymore? The truth shall set you free is what i say. Catholics killed thousands of muslims in the crusdades... ok... get over it it was hundreds of years ago.... If I make a movie about the crusades Do i then have to apologize to all the christians who I portray as killers?... no it happened... as long as it's an accurate depiction... and things are not added/detracted... You cannot be angry at history..
