Seems to me it is just arguing that you aren't seeing dead bodies in the news. They act like if you don't see the bodies that you assumed everyone was ok or something... will keep watching though.
edit: meh, i've seen most of the clips before.
Most people haven't. Thats the point. If more realistic and accurate news was regularly reported, governments wouldn't be able to dive into violence quite so easily. All of those blissfully unaware people with ribbons and bumper stickers would have to reconcile their political beliefs and the resulting consequences.
In the face of exposed carnage, our political catchphrases/cliches could no longer be used as crutches for the logically impaired. People will have seen the broken bodies, they will have heard the cries of freshly orphaned children, and in their minds war would finally be real. No longer a vague and amorphous event in some far off land, but rather a clear and explicit "effect" from a familiar political "cause".
I am about to be a new father in approximately 8 days and I don't want my son to ever see those kinds of pictures. But if our country is going to be involved, then we owe it to everyone in the conflict to actually be AWARE of what happens. The world can be an ugly place and I hope things turn around for the better, but by the time my stint as a father is over I hope that my child learns 2 things.
1) Everyone is horrible
2) Love them anyways
If you can get past #1 and get good at #2, the rest will work itself out.
To the media:
We don't need any more montages with suspenseful music tracks, 3d graphics and snappy sound effects, this isn't a football game. Show the blood, violence, destruction, decay, disease, carnage, hate, and when it happens, show love. Show all of it.
Anything less is a slap in the face to our own who risk their lives for a cause, and the people at the end of their rifles, fighting for what they believe.
To those who don't want yourself or your children to see what these events really look like:
Change the channel, sitcoms perhaps?
Set the parental controls, its easy.

Keep us posted. That's exciting!
Which game are you going to introduce him to first?
Congratulations in advance!
And yeah, I do need to agree. There needs to be more exposure to what the missiles and bombs leave behind.
I reckon probably 1% of the population watch Dateline (in Australia that's pretty much as hard-edged and 'real' as current affairs get on TV), when in reality it should be on at 7pm on a major station in my opinion.
Last I read, a great bulk of the footage that we see of Lebanon is not actually shown in Israel. Sounds like the Gulf War, hide the media from the truth and try not to start another Vietnam.
Show it all I say. Fuck the Right, show it all.
"(The) Iraqi people owe the American people a huge debt of gratitude." - George W Bush.
Oh. My. God.
I think it should be mandatory to show it all and here why
you don’t want to see kids with there heads blown off at teatime then you’ll have to phone your local representative and tell him you don’t want to see that and because it mandatory to show it the only way to stop seeing it would be to solve the problem and stop the fighting
I watched both videos thou I’ve seen the channel4 one on more4 during the Iraq week a few months ago. what’s really sad was the video on Palestine plight, the worse part being the people that are causing this are the "Jews" when you learn about there history remember the holocaust you wander how can they do it to another race? Israel a nation of learned people, so unwilling to listen it does not make scene and doesn’t make peace, truly it breaks my hart
P.S. I love being a farther, and i hope you have great times with your impending baby, good luck man
Tin Foil hats dont work.. its all a conspiracy
