When I first started coming here(2004), I saw most of the discussion was pretty intelligently written, but is it just me or is that really declining now? I don't even feel like coming here with all these annoying posts. Am I the only one?

I do not mean to bash, or to poke fun. I am not an SOE fanboi (although i do LOVE what they have done to EQ2) and in no means am I an anti-Blizzard/anti-WoW/.
But, when it comes to this community, i agree. It has dumbed down alot, ever since the kiddy-like community (probably brought in by WoW) joined the MMO genra.
WoW imo is GREAT for the future of MMOs (it has brought in a completely new type of casual, and hardcore player, that will, unlike before, be interested in buying new MMORPGs. But, for a serious community, origonally created to dicuss, argue, and comment on MMOs.... its not great at all.
tensions are high at the moment, most people are here as theyre not playing a game atm yet many seem quick to endlessly defend and promote the last game they played.
-- Note: PlayNC will refuse to allow you access to your account if you forget your password and can't provide a scanned image of the product key for the first product you purchased..... LOL

Ya I am not really into topics either, all the topics now are "HELP! WHAT IS THE BEST FREE MMMORPG???!!@#"
You can tell a difference in each part of the forum as well, I posted this in off-topic because there is a bit more maturity (I know? Off-topic has more maturity than the Pub? But just look at the topics now. I am obviously going to get flamed up to the skies before I can make my point).
I've been here before they had 9,000 users. Just never posted.
I agree. The more popular World of Warcrap becomes the more kiddies it will suck in and the more kiddies will just type in "mmorpg.com" and come here.
So I agree that the community on this site lacks a lot. And then you get those people who use big words and try to make themselves sound smarter then everyone else.

Yeah, and this is truly a shining beacon of maturity.

I really don't get into as much debates as I used to as it's not as it's not the same as they used to.

If Djin was here, and Mirt, they would have over 6000 too.

Damn! I got 6k...
I really didn't know that as I don't look at my post count often, but yeah, I do watch everyone of you and often test you guys when I can. Right down to even the people above my Elite-ness.

Yeah, back in the day maturity was rampant on the boards, user's posted in a state of nirvana. I remember that old MMORPG, right. Just go search back at an old thread and you'll know what I mean when I say, "Man, what was I thinking back then?"
Professor Hubert Farnsworth - That question is less stupid but, you asked it in a profoundly stupid way.
I think you've overlooked something in your look back in time.
Much like the MMO genre itself, mmorpg.com has grown in membership and viewership over the past few years. The site has changed here and there, the games have certainly changed quite a bit and with that, of course, the members have changed along with everything else.
Nothing new there and nothing wrong with it either. There's still plenty of very interesting information that is discussed about in the forums every day, there many uppon many amazing members that are still around and even after all this time I still learn lots of new things all the time here, from both the community and the editorial staff.
I firmly believe, as I have for a very long time, that this is by far the best site for the MMO community, the community itself has certainly strained me from time to time but that's to be expected. I've taken a couple of breaks from the people here a few times but I've always come back renewed in the fact that I believe at it's heart, this community is fantastic.
I've met great friends here, people/members I genuinely adore as kind souls and lots of people that just plain intrigue me.
So sorry, I couldn't dissagree with you more, if anything I find the community more vibrant, more interesting and has a much broader approach then it had 3 years ago.
What we have to remember is that with the good, will come some bad. That cannot be avoided. Like every other community, there will be bad times, mediocre times and then more great times. There will be those who come to annoy and disshearten and annoy but after all is said and done, we still have each other and when it comes to a community, that's all that matters.

There needs to be a premiere account, and a premiere forum, for ones who are allowed access by the mods of the website.
theyd allow only the intelligent ones* so to speak.
