Is it just me or are the ratings a bit off?

I don't know about you, but I think the ratings are off. I've never heard of the more highly rated games. It seems some gamers are trying to rate their games the highest just because they play them. What do you think?

Some games had their ratings artificially inflated by fans of said games, it has been dealt with, see here:

It really lowered every score. Some Japanese people made multiple accounts and rated FFXI with 10s. Really screwed it up.
