No Man's Sky unveils Worlds part 2, with new trailer and deep dive into the most ambitious and expansive update yet. Trillions of planets, even more visual updates, and so much to do.

Yeah, some space stations have other players; just most of the planets are empty because the universe is so huge.
and thats why I was thinking do they really need more planets?

All the more real estate to role play being an Interstellar Flying Dutchman I guess.
Otherwise, always amazing what they do with this game. I'd agree that the trillions of planets more might seem a bit excessive, but I guess it serves a purpose for those who like "discovering" systems and planets, getting to name their discoveries, etc. When the devs do finally consider this game feature-complete, it'll still provide that discovery mechanic for some time to come....So maybe no useful purpose at this moment aside from 'future proofing' in some manner.

They don't need to do anything further with NMS. They have long since provided far more than was originally promised so could any time and be fully redeemed for their poor start. That would allow them to focus more on their upcoming fantasy game, but apparently they just can't let NMS end quite yet so it continues to be the game that keeps on giving... relentlessly.

You'll have to go play elsewhere.
You can upload the base to the persistent universe, so that if you are offline others can visit the base and harvest the mines and farms there, but the base cannot be edited.
Some people make puzzle bases, or maze bases, or even bases that trap others who visit in a form of PvP. There is also basic PvP including griefing, so many people usually turn that off.
There is also a Galactic Hub where players have cooperated in building on planets near each other.

edit: the Anomaly (large NPC star base) hosts up to 32 players at a time, and you can get missions to run with others there. Players frequently gift credits and items to new players making them instantly rich. Not everyone wants that though, I'd rather play to earn the money, not be given it,

Or perhaps you want a water world where the water is red and over a kilometer deep, to build underwater bases and set up a fishing base.

They have given so much for this game, and i have gotten such enjoyment from it that its earned them credit for their next endeavour from me anyway. Will Preorder Light no Fire once it becomes available.
