Between this, Beyond Skyrim and Odyssey of the Dragonborn, there are a few great projects to look forward to.
Skyrim modding seems to currently have reached an absolute new high, with graphics looking like a game from 2030, modern animations, crazy stuff like porting the entire Elden Ring combat system into the game, AI voice generation opening up new avenues for quest and follower mods, and a plethora of new open source tools and frameworks (Synthesis to name just one of them) really making me wonder what the limit for a 13 years old game can be. The moddability of this game is crazy and I guess it will just stay young for even longer than Cher.
Logging into the sad affair that is ESO makes you wonder how that game can't even look and feel like 1% the game a modern, fully modded Skyrim is.
Those Skyrim modders is what kept Skyrim, & Bethesda to an extent, afloat for all these years after Skyrim's last expansion. Kudos to the Skyblivion participants. I thank them & am looking forward to this eventual release. I'll be happy to toss some coins their way if/when it releases.
When mods are better than the vanilla game(s) themselves, what kind of gaming world have we entered into?
Im in the minority for sure but I dont ever play games that use mods.....THey may be available but I just like to play the game the way it was intended to be played.

I have a friend who only plays the elder scrolls games and he won't use mods. I did make my mod for him so I suppose that's the only mod he's ever played.
For me, I don't use mods until I've going through the game a few times and usually the only mods I use are extra adventures, armor, weapons, and perhaps things that make the world look a bit different.
For example, I have a mod for skyrim that makes the trees a lot bigger which really makes the whole place seem older and grander.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

Well there are *mods* which change / enhance the game-play and graphics but there are also *mods* which fix broken components of the game, Bethesda at least has a wide variety of user created mods in their hub including many fixes for their games, modders have been fixing Bethesda issues since time immemorial.
I used to be the same, no mods until i had beaten the game at least once, however as i get older my patience for things like bad companion AI pathing has been lowered.
When i played Starfield last year i added a mod that fixed companion pathing a few hours into my playthrough and it greatly improved the experience. The trade-off is no Steam achievements past that point but i don't really care about those anyway.

There's this weird rumor of Bethesda releasing an updated Oblivion. Not sure why they would do this but it will be interesting to see.
