What do you guys have against Fractured Online to just rip in them in a headline?

    Who hurt you?

It is a bit unprofessional but it's not really untrue. Or at least, if looking at steam it seems that there are currently 165 players with a 28.2 monthly average.

So not exactly wrong. Having said that, maybe they also have their own launcher and therefore more players?

Most long-time players use the non-steam launcher, according to the developers.

The game peaked this week at about 300 players online at one time - according to the developer Discord post. (sorry, no link)

So yeah, the 10s of players crack does seem a bit mean-spirited.

I wouldn't be surprised. People should beware of putting too much stock in Steam numbers when alternative means of play for a game exist. In some cases that access greatly precedes Steam availability such that the lion's share of population accesses the game otherwise.

And if Discord total of 300 players are accurate that would place the Steam numbers at or above half the population.

So, the Steam numbers would have some stock.

You'd think this was going to be a Fractured Online hit piece with that headline, but no just someone's weird attempt at a mean spirited joke.

    i smirked.

if your MMO is not massively-multiplayer due to playercount, can you sue for false advertising?

This type of game like Fractured Online is niche game. No other developers want to make this type of game anymore. It's either you like to play or don't like to play. Some people like it very much. Just building a house will take about 3 to 4 hours. It's a long term marathon game.

If and is don't substitute well for each other. Either you know the population outside of Steam such that you can make that determination or you don't.

Your use of if suggests the latter.

Advertisements for games don't come with population guarantees.

Just so everyone knows. maybe player do not play on steam, they play directly from the website. Sure, those players are probably veterans, but I estimate between 1-3 hundred active players right now. Those numbers will go down as time goes on.

Undefined discussion response, read the actual response here ....

I normally think of a post with no subject that just contains a single link to be spam.

    Sigh.

Fractured was garbage from day 1 and they never changed the problems. What do they expect?

Price model turns me off to fractured online. Is there a free trial to it?

It doesn't seem so at the moment on Steam and I don't see one mentioned on their site which is where one downloads the client if they don't want to play through Steam.

I'm mostly playing City of Heroes Homecoming as my main/only mmo currently, and will be for quite some time, given the absolute soulless-like/PvP/gacha/MTX crapola that's on the horizon, eh.

Maybe having a custom launcher is mistake for an online game. It's bad optics for what little revenue or data gain they're convinced they'll get. Blizzard can get away with it, but these guys don't have the wow factor. They've fractured their community and it's costing them.
