I enjoyed playing it even though it is largely a remaster of the original as opposed to a sequel. My primary issue with it is there's no compelling reason to replay it once you win it since you can switch classes at any time, so it's just going to be a rehash of everything you just went through for the sake of doing it again. I personally don't find that super compelling. Trickster class is a complete waste of code and data. I would have preferred they added an additional type of mob to break things up with the development time.
I think the Trickster is for people who enjoy support classes, especially for players who want something unique. It’s a great addition for those who don’t want to engage directly with combat.
You could play any class in the first game so no real difference other than initial class did cement certain stats.
I would say that playing through the game on one class and then an entirely different class on the next play would through is the way to go. Just like any role playing game.

DD1 and DD2 is almost the same but just remaster stuffs
