    Personally I've never understood why so much attention was given to Metzen instead of this guy. While Metzen was just starting with a few sketches of background art for the Warcraft 2 game menu and manual, Samwise had already pretty much created the whole Blizzard art style. If you look at the very earliest photos of the Blizzard team, you will always find three key faces among the few people in them: Morhaime, Bill Roper and Samwise.

    Great talent, both visual and musical, this indeed is an end of an era. It honestly reminds me of the LotR's Samwise at long last following Frodo and Gandalf into the West.

    gratz samwise, I will hope who ever replaces you is at least half as good an artist as you are, the only reason I still go back to WoW is the art style, to me its relaxing, I will raise a pint to you

    Oh man. "The art is still good" has been the most common compliment that WoW has received in the past ten years. I hope this doesn't change that.

    The brain drain continues ... Microsoft had better find a way to recognize and attract more actual talent rather than purely profit-oriented drones, or they'll see very little return on their huge investment.
