If not for AB being a shambling husk of its former self, I'd almost be perturbed.

    Clever things.

At this very point, I am 100% sure that Blizzard ( at least ), can't become worst under MS umbrella than its already is.

They didn't make ESO 100% free for GP players but you can play allot of it for free. IMO the current state of WoW combat and skills you have available on your hotbar. I could see WoW ported to Xbox for sure.

Blizzard is getting the better deal here. Not really sure what the play is for MS unless someone at MS is really passionate about Blizzard IPs and thinks they can do a better job with them. However that's a REALLY expensive passion project and a huge risk especially considering the way Blizzard has squandered their trust capital with their fan base.

Also the current UI for retail allows for full controller integration.

    Lack of imagination?!

(Almost) Everything which Blizzard did in the past .. 5 years was a disaster, more or less.

But then again. I believe, in your imagination, last 3 WoW expansions were great right? D4 launch was amazing, Diablo Immortal extravaganza is their best game ever, etc...

I dropped WoW many years ago. I also found ever expansion Panda forward has been a mess. As for lack of imagination. Look at Redfall. That mess happened because MS left them alone and did not get involved in the process. MS thought they were helping by giving them space. The Redfall team made a multi player game think that's what MS wanted. While MS wanted them to make a game they felt passionate about but no one communicated any of that. MS is still learning how to manage all these acquisitions. That was my point. They may not make the same mistakes ABK has been making, but they could make a whole new set of mistakes.

My opinion is that this was really about Activision and King. Both of them pull in massively more revenue than Blizzard does. King has a huge user base and gives Microsoft a top tier mobile developer for their IPs. Activision is a revenue powerhouse. This is Xbox Games division adding a solid revenue stream to their stable of studios/publishers to make them better looking on financials. Blizzard is just along for the ride, which is probably an unpopular opinion on this site.

Agreed but I think MS is not upset at Blizzard having a new MMO in the pipeline.

First move by Microsoft should be to fire every person working on the Diablo series.

Microsoft is known to buy up a company then completely annihilate them. I watched it happen to Caligari, a small company who created Truespace, a 3d rendering software, a few decades ago. Caligari or their product was never heard from again.

What does that have to do with Activision Blizzard's acquisition?

Giant tech companies like Microsoft often buy small companies for some piece of tech and personnel who know it, rather than the product those companies sell.

It's obvious that Activision Blizzard was not purchased for that kind of reason and Microsoft isn't going to order them to cease using their existing IPs.

Microsoft isn't likely to make any new big purchases anytime soon. Microsoft owes estimated back taxes of nearly $30Bn This is a result of tax errors from 2004 - 2013, before Nadella (ceo) and Adams (cfo) took over. It has to do with errors in shifting money around. They probably won't pay that much, but it will still be a chunk of money.
