EVE Online continues to improve the visuals of its game, with the EVE Evolved initiative still in full swing. Viridian, the upcoming expansion hitting the space MMO next month, sees more of these improvements, from volumetric nebula clouds to visual upgrades across ships.

    Probably close to a decade ago I tried EVE Online for a couple of weeks (free trial). I was really impressed with the visuals of space in general & their ships back then. I bought 1 month of paid-play but after that expired I never touched it again. There was a lot I liked but I've just never been into cutthroat PvP.

    Therefore, I'm not aware of any specific updates or events that have occurred in EVE Online since that time, including the Viridian Update you mentioned. It's possible that this update was released after my knowledge cutoff date.     Seriously, they took a player survey or something and this is what everyone wanted, better looking space clouds and frigate hull running lights?



    I so want a good reason to return to EVE but once again, CCP fails to deliver.

    I'm not a HC player by any accounts; However, I always love to see Eve update and progress.

    Yes. Flying through space is a big part of the game obviously. An immersive space experience is important.

    I actually do think it’s important to upgrade the graphics so I appreciate the effort. Keeping older games looking somewhat modern is crucial for these games that are played for decades. Or else you end up looking like Everquest 1 & 2 with a mountain of content but no one wants to play it because the game looks like shit.

    Sure, that would be fine if they had delivered anything of substance recently but they really haven't, just bolting on some bells and whistles here and there.
