Which mmorpg deserves a 'remaster'?

(Apologies in advance if a thread like this was already made before)

I was just looking for people's thoughts on what mmorpg they feel deserves a 'remaster' and what (if anything) would they change/streamline/etc to fit the modern era of mmorpg players. If people do not feel changes are needed, then maybe list the mmorpg's strength to warrant it's 'remaster' (like what aspects made it good/unique/etc, even compared to today's standards).

There have been multiple, but it's still fun.

For me, Vanguard Saga of Heroes

Warhammer Online or Vanguard. Maybe Age of Conan too. Make it more user friendly, more modern.

DAoC first and foremost.  It is STILL a great game but hampered by horrendous netcode and graphics/UI.

But I'd love to play some updated Vanguard too.

    UO.
It needs an answer to PKing and griefing in general, but it's social aspects and worldliness, in use and design, make it well worth it.

Remastered also in the way of expanding on what they did.
Also some better art. 2.5D is fine and preferable, for various reasons, in my mind.

The ones that are still popular. Popular MMOs get remastered often multiple times during their lifetimes as they are constantly updated. Once they lose that popularity they don't deserve another chance.

SWG Pre CU with the Source 2 engine or something.

I agree, but sometimes they get shut down for reasons other than popularity, was SWG or CoH really that unpopular when they were closed?

Warhammer Online Age of Reckoning was ahead of its time. If they could redo that game with a modern graphic engine and more important a modern back end that could handle the 500v500 battles they designed the game around it would be epic.

DAoC I think would do well with a remaster.

Sadly the man most likely to do all of this is Mark Jacobs and Camelot Unchained which will likely never see the light of day as a fully functional and released game.

Sometimes a developer makes a mistake along the way thatresults in a lot of unsatisfied customers that leave.  For instance TOA for DAoC.   Some may have loved it, but it was very controversial at the time.

Also, the games that exist today are NOT the games that launched.  See WoW Classic vs normal WoW.

Obligatory SWG mention.  That game really needed today's technology to support the goals the studio had for it.

Would be cool to see what could be done with those ideas if today's technology was fully applied.

Anarchy Online.....could have been one of the greatest MMOs ever if they would have just put a little effort into it...instead Funcom made The Secret World which was pure garbage....oh well

Rift, loved the original game. If only they had continued that way.

And also Wildstar, still has a place in my heart.

I would still be playing DAoC today if they had kept the engine and gameplay current. Most fun I have had in a MMO to date. I so miss my Minstrel.

My most fav crafting MMO I have played. I liked it best when it was skill based over exp driven. I got so rich in this game crafting and making a name for myself doing so. I loved how guilds would poach and recruit well known crafters.

Yes, Rift was quite something. The Nightmare Tide was ... what a fitting name for an expansion! Storm Legion(iirc) was still quite good and brought some much needed souls. Was a huge QoL.

Vanguard BUT I remember because the "extremely strange coding" developers couldn't do anything with it.

For such a great game Brad McQuad was wacked out on his programming. Now it shows again with Pantheon.

See WoW "Classic" through "Classic Wrath". Classic isn't Vanilla and the current classic "WotLK" isn't the Wrath we played back then either.

Nothing stays the same. All players are never going to be happy with some change or period. No one can agree what a remaster should look like, see WoW, Final Fantasy 7, and a lot of anything else remastered, at least in online games.

There are exceptions to some remasters where the OG was troubled or the remaster just hit all the right points and made the things about the OG even better, see Dead Space for the latter.

Has that even been done with multiplayer games. Not talking FF14 1.0 to 2.0 kind of thing, but an actual full on remaster.
