  The license plates could already be customized via app on your phone irl. But almost no one even knows about it so im glad they are making it easier to access!

  iFruit indeed had the option of custom license plate, alongside other features like exclusive tuning options, or training Chop.
  

  Players mostly hated and/or ignored it though, because of it's nature of forcing an external app, and the linking your phone to Rockstar, just to access features which should've been in the game the first place.

  (not to mention its security issues over the years...)
  

  
  

  As the result of that player ignorence, Rockstar themselves have left the app behind, which has first made its security issues gain weight, then incompatibility issues, then it wasn't even working on the new phone OSs.

  At the end the app stores finally removed it from the list entirely.
