Should more MMO's do "expeditions" like No Man's Sky?

Well, I see there's some sort of new content/update just been released.  I sometimes load the game up to see if it adds anything interesting for me, so maybe when I get time I'll test it out.  My expectations are low, as they invariably are with this game.

There are no levels in NMS, and no skills. Its not a roleplaying game.

What you develop in NMS is

    - your own skills

    - your gear

    - your personal upgrades

    - your other stuff (starships, outposts etc)

There is also no endgame. The game itself stays exactly the same.

There are however new game elements introduced all the time. For example a while ago they introduced pirate systems, and you can now take over towns and build them up.

Oh, and about the topic, since I havent stated that yet:

My strategy with No Man's Sky is simply that every once in a while, I start playing it again, and explore the new content. Whenever I feel like it.

So I really dont need any help from the develpers with that.

And certainly I do not tolerate getting asked to play at very specific times in very specific time restrictions. To me thats just obvious bullocks.

    Edit: Typo fix
