Is Multiversus related to NFTworld or Web3land, or were they just trying to cash in on trendy tech buzzword?
Also... who does an "open beta" with a cash shop and paid battle pass? Sounds like a "we launched but you can't review us because we're calling it a beta and you're not smart enough to see what we're up to... hahaha" type of game.
Anyway... another devious POS dead. Good riddance.
"Social media gives legions of idiots the right to speak when they once only spoke at a bar after a glass of wine, without harming the community ... but now they have the same right to speak as a Nobel Prize winner. It's the invasion of the idiots”

It's literally just a clever portmanteau on the words "Multiverse" (multiple IP worlds collide) and "versus" (it's a fighting game). It has nothing to do with NFTs or tech buzzwords.
As for the failure of the game, well, I'd consider it both embarassing and unfortunate. This game had a huge launch and everything in the world going for it. There was a big audience for Smash Bros but Warner Bros, and they just dropped the ball on content updates.
