And imagine extracting with a $100,000 item and then your internet happens to go down at that moment. Fun times.

The only people that this benefits are people who still try to shill crypto. Last I checked, it's in a nosedive at the moment so this is a pretty transparent way to either get a big content creator to shill for some NFT scheme or the mullet has finally grown roots into Dr. Disrespect's brain and he has fully become his persona.

If anything the only real result will be much higher levels of rage that will probably turn into real world violence when someone loses.

    Welcome back BCBully.

I certainly see some aspects like you describe.  I just really do not want it to take over my gaming the way every other fad/trend has (F2P, Cash Shop, Loot Boxes...)

There is a short story from Dragon Magazine that is by now 35 years old...  It described exactly what the Twitter post teases.   It's called Catacombs and you can read it (in 5 parts) here:  http://henrysstories.blogspot.com/2011/03/catacomb-part-1-of-5.html

5 parts is a "short" story? Netflix calls those a "limited" series.

If a game is good enough, I might play it even if it has crypto and NFT's, etc.

However, if I want to play the market, I use the stocks I own. If I want to gamble, I'll go to the local horse track or casino.

Cryptocurrency, much like stocks, only goes up in value if demand goes up. Can't sell your stuff if noone wants to buy it of course.

However, communities nearly always diminish over time in MMOs.

This makes trying to assign real world values to in game items a fools errand. The only people buying your items are other players, but as the demand goes down due to falling playerbase, so will the value of your items. I've no doubt there will be a few hardcore gamers able to make such a system work for them, but for the majority of gamers they're unlikely to ever make money.

[I should note I have no issues with the concept of cryptocurrency, nor do I object to the use of blockchain tech in games. I only have an issue with the concept of play-2-earn]

But I think that is where they present the concept of taking your items with you to different games.  Which to me seems like a really bad gaming concept, but that is the discussion I have seen.  You own the item so it's yours when you go into the next game that supports this system.

And no, nobody has explained to me how my fighter jet is going to work in the low magic fantasy world of my next game.

It has nothing to do with following headlines, it is just simple lack of interest in this. There's nothing there that makes me want to participate in digital collectibles that need real money to purchase. I don't spend money on skins nor do I spend them on buying anything I cannot earn in a game. With the exception of inventory tabs for F2P games like Path of Exile what you're trying to peddle here does not give me even an iota of excitement.

You go right on ahead but attempting to ridicule people who aren't interested in what you seem to be invested in and your long absences only to pop in with these posts raises all types of red flags. Thank you very much but I'll pass.

If I understand correctly, your fighter jet is just a token which might be a fighter jet in the game you first bought it in, while in the next game it's a Ferrari, and in the 3rd it can be a luxury hotel....just a matter of what graphic image each game chooses to assign to it.

But why do you need NFT or blockchain to sell skins.  Diablo 3 used to have real money auction house.

It's arguable unsafer see the recent fiascle with some crypto games.  I remember hearing a game where it gets hacked and colapse.  But I suppose it could work.  I do see collectible card game NFT might work or so.

I'm quite surprise there isn't more NFT card collectible.

Every time I see one of your posts, you're talking about crypto in some way. You're completely brainwashed at this point.

You can't seem to talk/think about anything else. It's nuts - just like the crypto you push.

Problem with these things is stability. You can get an item worth 100'000 and sell it to someone. Great but the guy who bought it maybe dismayed when that game is no longer as popular because a better game replaced it. Now that 100'000 item is worth nothing. IMO I would never bank my future on any of these things.
