Starting today, Torchlight: Infinite will put free to play players on one side against streamer Rich Campbell in a speedrun challenge that puts a spin on that question of whether free to play players have a chance against those who spend money on games.

100% staged. They had a stream recently where Rich was a (likely highly paid) main presenter who admitted he hasn't been playing at all since it launched. They are going to give a noob like him access to some power and will compete against some people that will have in depth knowledge of the game.
Notice it is a race to take advantage of his lack of knowledge. What we need to see is the power discrepancy between fully traited s-tier legndary pet traits and fully traited common or rare pets. They of course won't do this and I'm not sure it has enough whales to even end up doing an analysis themselves.
With that said, it currently doesn't seem to be very P2W yet. Certainly not to the level of Undecember or D:I. But I fully expect them to nerf certain strong non-legendary pet traits in order to incentive gambling on their pet loot boxes hoping for S-tier traits.
They are a super shady company who lied about monetization and paid infliencers to lie as well. If they got rid of the gacha pet system they could have appealed to a lot more people. Oh and they are a chinese company so they have that going against them as well.
Take the "winner" of this challenge, allow him to spend as much money as the "whale" and then repeat the challenge. And tell him he gets to keep his stuff if he wins.
