New World Offers a Peek into the Desert and the Imposing Greatsword in a New Showcase | MMORPG.com

Brimstone Sands is coming to New World next week on October 18th, and Amazon Game Studios is previewing one new aspect of the content coming in the update: The Greatsword.

I'm enjoying New World a lot! no p2w (b2p) updates, bug fixing, nice graphics, very beautiful world, pvp. Everything i need (can't wait for Dual daggers and Pistols)

The exploits are still in game BTW, there are two different duping exploits live on the PTR and multiple invisibility exploits. Even fresh start wont be able to change that. AGS knows (i and many others have reported it on the forums) but they arent going to fix them by nov. ANd i say that because one of the duping exploits have been in game since LAUNCH! AGS is beyond incompetant.

Well if that's true and the exploits hit the Fresh Start Servers then it will be a quick trip for me. It's free (already have the game), so it wont cost me anything to go look.

Won't save it? It's not dead or dying...it is making a comeback. Might never reach back to where it was but it will be fine without you.

Just another trashy tribal mmo hater comment. Game is super fun and is very much alive. There are no dupe exploits or bugs to be seen anywhere. Don’t believe these low lives.

I put in about 40 hours on the PTR both starting from scratch and fully geared 60s. The game is so much better than launch. Definitely going in the right direction and I think the player counts are only going to increase. Great sword is an amazing addition. Its super versatile. It has an offensive spec tree and defensive spec tree. It has both AOE and single target strikes. On top of that it looks amazing both the sword itself and the attack animations. It scales evenly with strength and dex, so it pairs well with anything other than the caster weapons. I personally preferred to go full dex and pair it with the bow, but I saw plenty of other combos being used. I'll definitely be speccing great sword come fresh start.

Credibility 101: don't spout obvious lies about dupes and exploits 2 weeks after a massive ban wave triggered by the last patch for the crafting trophy stacking exploit and the trading dupe.

The thing about NW is that being B2P players can drop back in at a whim and an awful lot of players bought it at launch. So effectively you have a huge player base in waiting and the new dlc is surely going to benefit from that. Though I do get puzzled when players go on about new weapons, you are going to get new content, soak it up.

Mutations are pretty damn fun. Basically the same thing as WoW M+ dungeons. I'm really looking forward to Brimstone, the Greatsword and also the Halloween event.

The game has come a long way in the past year but it's still got a lot of work to do. Honestly really disappointed we didn't see a 1 year anniversary event.

I honestly don't let the exploits bother me much, someone is always going to have more gold or better gear than you and plenty of people buy gold regularly. No game out there is really "fair", letting exploits ruin the game for you is a little ridiculous in my eyes.

As for the guy claiming there is a dupe on live, I really don't believe it. There's very rarely any bis gear on the auction house, if there was an active dupe, you'd be able to find bis gear pretty easy. The old duping methods from launch have been fixed a long time ago.

It's been over a year since I played. Went to the PTR last weekend and checked it out. New char level up is much better, game has changed alot. New desert area is huge and looks great. They removed alot of "friction' in the game, although it still felt like a walking sim at times.

I will start a new char when "fresh start" happens and play casually then provide another review.

I did a level 60 on the PTR just to see the new zone but have spent most of my time leveling from level 2. The old zones may still be a walking simulator but they have added a metric shit ton of new shrines in the 1-25 areas. You barely have to walk a couple of hundred yards there and there'll be a shrine.

I've leveled one to 32 using the Greatsword mostly and have never touched a town board for questing, There are actually many more quests than needed for leveling purposes and I've skipped quite a few.

Also, love the new look of Everfall and the Camelot-themed Monarch's Bluff.

What's cool is that you always can go back once you hit 60 to finish the quests, because after level 20ish they start to give decent amounts of gold !

I like what they have shared on the update, and while I only played during a free weekend months ago, am going to probably finally take the plunge and purchase next time it is on sale.

I must eat some humble pie here and say that I have been wrong about where the game is heading. I thought they would just eventually pull the plug on it, and that it was more or less a lost cause.

However... I have been playing it again for a week now, and I must admit that it is a changed game. The big ones for me are:
- reduced travel costs for waypointing.
- shared bank between towns, without cost.
- the music system is fantastic! Very surprised.
- a lot more variety in dungeons.

So I guess it may turn into a contender after all. I'm going to give it another chance.

I'll still have to try this game again. Probably gonna be next weekend at soonest though, not before the expansion and subsequent hot patches.
