This game still has a lot of potential... it wouldn't surprise me at all if it became a solid game in 2022-23. I don't play New World (yet), but I've been following updates, and everything sounds promising (except for bugs and exploit hehe).

Its got core problems that I don't see how they will fix without changing their game completely.  Sure on the surface it looks great.  After you get to end game, its another problem entirely.

For a struggling game to really recover there needs to be an admittance of failure by the game studio.
This requires a complete honesty that many senior game studio personnel will shy away from, taking the continual tweaking route instead.
It takes a lot to openly admit large scale mistakes, particularly in the western culture of needing a blame target.
I don't see Amazon allowing for that kind of complete honesty. Rather people will seek to protect themselves by whatever means possible.
Consequently I see NW continuing to stumble on, with the company willing to stomach losses, rather than an honest recognition to the degree of rework required.

If it becomes worth playing I am increasingly leaning to 2024, I am not sure they will be even on track for next year. They are still running an early access when what they should be doing is closing for a relaunch.

Didn't Amazon Game Studios Game Director quit a few days ago? I mean, that's a pretty big step to admit someone messed up and its time for a change.

    No, the game is worthless.

I played New World and I like it but the game is worthless.

Because of the completely amateur hour way the game was designed they will always be dealing with exploits and dupes, and if they have to fix those all the time then they will have no time to iterate on existing content to make it better.

Then they make things worse by pushing new content that introduces more bugs, exploits and dupes.
Yeah, new content is more likely to bring people in then making old content better but currently it's just piling crap on top of crap.

Yes one person left, and all the other people who contributed to the current poor state of the game no doubt got their scripts ready as to why it was all his fault.
    Blame assigned, now what?

He has just been made the fall guy.  All the incompetent developers are still there and continue to screw up with each patch / update.

Incoming new exploits and dupes..... three.....two.....one......

new world is all hack and slash and no content. it is in a death spiral for casual players. unless they do a major turn around which was not in their road map it will be hemoragin the players they have left that are not pure pvpers or hard core.

make a world, not a game, we dont want another game.

The only, and I mean ONLY, way New World could ever hope to continue to exist. Would be to completely scrap the current game and throw out the engine*. Then revamp it for a full-on Player Driven Experience (like EVE Online). Implement meaningful PVP and marry it with the PVE experience that most look for when playing MMOs.

*As I understand it, the engine just isn't easy to work with. It's like Anthem with Frostbite; great engine for visuals until you want to do multiplayer.

Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising everytime we fall.
