    It's a:

    - Sandbox
    - Sim focused
    - No Levels
    - No Skill Points
    - No Ingame Tutorial
    - Full on PVP
    - Full Looting

    To be honest that sounds like the worst game ever....lol...there is literally no carrot in there

    In fact, this game would not be such a meme, there are actually some attractive points.

    For me:

    - Sandbox ++
    - Sim focused ++
    - No levels ++
    - Skill Points +- (depends on the actual gameplay and the learning curve)
    - No in game tutorial (WTF?) --
    - Full On PVP (depending on the mood) ++--
    - Full Looting --

    With this logic all games are problematic because they do not appeal to everyone and someone has a problem with them.

    That's not "having a problem", that's selecting an audience.
    Well, it is a problem if you first fund your product as A and then start selecting an audience after getting their funds to make it product B. Many Crowdfunding projects fall into the trap of changing so drastically from what was first ‘sold’ that many of the early bird supporters are unhappy with the final product.

    That of course doesn’t apply to SC since they are nowhere near a final product and the current iteration is closer to product T then B but you get the gist of it  o:)

    Being able to PVP doesn't mean everyone and their mother is doing it.

    Being a space game there's plenty of, well, space to play around unbothered along with harsh consequences for criminal play. The game might not have skill points or levels but it has reputation alignments with various factions.

    Ah almost forgot another feature, when you die you loose ALL your gear and are sent to an hospital that you set as spawn point.
    To get your gear back you must go back to your body to retrieve it.

    I'll make a prediction, either before SC launches or soon after Roberts walks back on the idea of open world, full loot, FFA PVP and puts in additional mechanics beyond the faction system to control or limit player bad behavior.

    Now, which will come first, SC's release or hell freezing over, who can say?

    How's this for the  "Analogy of the Week" award

    MY brother once told me he made a large pot of sauce and put just two drops of his extremely hot hot sauce and ruined the entire pot.

    Full loot PvP ?..... Once you add full loot PvP, the entire game is ruined.

    No. I said nothing about such games being problematic. That isn't my logic.

    What I said is that some perceive open world PvP as problematic. For those that do, to them open world PvP is a problem.

    It is selecting an audience from the perspective of the game maker. Whether the selection made is problematic depends on the perspective of the potential player.

    This would be all fine and good if the players that found it so recognized the game wasn't meant for them and moved on but such isn't always the case.

    Being able to PvP doesn't mean everyone is doing it, but when it is open world it does mean that everyone is subject to it. The potential alone is enough to be seen as problematic to players that are greatly adverse to PvP.

    That there is plenty of space may not matter depending on the details, which I'm not familiar with in this game. There is a big difference between being able to travel long  distances directly and continuously, having to do a series of jumps where you are comparably stationary and vulnerable in between, or if you have to be boosted by warp gates where people can congregate and potentially intercept those trying to travel.

    Anyway, my point was simply to say how it could be seen as problematic. For those looking for what the game offers it clearly won't be seen as so, making it a non-issue for them so long as the game maintains that direction as it should. For that direction to change would be a disservice to the many that have bought into the game for what it was said to be.

    Safe zones and bounty hunting have all been tried in the past.
    Hopefully the boys over at SC realize this and implement something effective.

    (The big flaw with bounty hunting is that for people who love PvP it is never as profitable as killing noobs in the old risk vs. reward dept)
    Well they do realise. After all they have in their top ranks people who worked closely on Ultima Online.
    Their current system is already working nicely in a balanced way imo,.

    In monitored systems if you do crimes besides being attacked by all the lawfull space stations and cities the only way to clean the crime stat is to clear it on a military bunker with a hacking key.

    Meanwhile as soon as you commit a severe crime (PK or lawfull npc killing) a mission is generated to all the players in the server that pays a nice sum for your bounty.

    Anyone who accepts that mission will get a marker of your location that enables players to easily track and travel to you to hunt you down. If you get killed in monitored space you'll be sent to jail where you'll be locked up to several hours and forced to mine to reduce time or try to evade through sketchy tunels.

    This bounty hunting video shows a good example of a Mandalorian impersonation hunting down criminal players:

    Mind you, there's also always PVE Bountie missions to do, both in space or on the ground.

    Then the problem is the player not recognizing the game is simply not meant for them, not the selection. The player was never a potential player in the first place and their perspective is irrelevant.

    It is premature to talk about a game that is still in alpha as if it is the final game. Remember New World? it was in alpha, and the game we have today is a lot different. Best to wait until a game is in beta, or even better, released.

    Anybody who plays a crowd-funded game that is in alpha, and expects the final game to be the same is probably deluding themselves.

    I agree. This however works both ways. Strangely enough SC seems to exist in a kind of purgatory where it is ok and “encouraged” to love it for what it is, what is promised, what is changed and what is hinted at without actually existing ‘because Alpha’ but it is not ok to be critical of lacking features, bugs, poor performance etc. ‘because Alpha.’ Marketing wise it is close to perfection. And weird.
