That's not enough. all the content but the base game is over tuned and needs to be fixed.

If you're struggling, might I suggest a Ranger, minion Necromancer, or Mechanist. Don't like pet classes? A Celestial Firebrand or Marauder Reaper should give you plenty of survivability at minimal dps loss.

In general open world is quite easy even in the expansion areas. I definitely don't think they need to tone down other areas. The base game was just too easy.

Most people that play MMO's today are casual no matter how you hardcore players try to spin it. The hardcore content should have been all the raids and group/ dungeon content only. Instead what they did was listen to the hardcore players that live on the forums claiming to speak for everyone. It's because of this the game is struggling. More people enjoyed the game before the expansions. And if it wasn't for them offering the base game f2p they would be in more trouble.

You first blame a group for speaking for you, and then you turn around speak for everybody in the same paragraph.

I'm a fan of content for different skill levels, as someone who likes vanilla maps best. But GW1's instanced approach certainly offered a much more elegant solution - difficulty options for all content, everywhere.

I tend to agree with this, Honestly, if they wanted to keep the game alive, they should have told their hardcore population to suck it up and deal, enjoy what they were given, or go find greener pastures. They should have downplayed Dungeons and never put in Raids.

Instead they upticked the Open World Content for HoT, and in doing so shot themselves in foot and have been struggling since.

Man you need to re read what I was saying. You are just trying to spin it the way you want. Replies like this are so dumb. The numbers prove that what i said is true. Hardcore players want it their way while the casual players just want to be able to play the content. There is room in modern mmo's to cater to all player types. GW2 chose not to.

It's worth noting that one of the best features of the new xpac is a Jade Bot, which provides a lot of casual player handicaps. Increased vitality, personal waypoints, and even a self-revive function for open world. All very useful things to have.

That's not what he stated. Thank you for over looking the issue and "hey play this class" to fix the issue....yea. Some people don't understand what a positive troll is....

So here's some of my favorite builds for PvE. I'm a slow, lethargic player, so I do need to compensate with stats and defenses. Builds that let me make those choices with minimal effectiveness loss are very helpful, and they may help you as well.

    Support Mechanist

Has ample defense stats, with decent damage, boon support, and an AI companion. Keeps itself alive through passive healing, and improved protection. Half of all its healing splashes out to heal allies too. Also has one of the lowest APM requirements of any build, so it's good if you aren't in the mood for anything more intensive.

You can swap out the condi signet for Grenade/Bomb, Tool, or Elixir kits depending on whether you want more damage, blocking, or healing.

    Minion Master

Quite possibly the best/easiest solo build in the game, relying on a minion army to deal extra damage, tank, and transfer condis from you to foes. Included variants for both PoF and core-only.

    Celestial Firebrand

More than any other profession, Guardians benefit from every stat. They damage, they have built-in burning, they heal, they boon support, and the extra defense stats are icing on the cake.

    http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PWABc+x/lRwgYPsOGJW0WbPbA-zxIY14PI66LnB-e

    Bruisers

High crit chance modifiers in their professions' traits allow them to shift points from Precision to Vitality.

    Vindicator:

    Soulbeast:

    Deadeye:

    Reaper

Necros get to double dip from Vitality, as it also buffs Shroud. Switching to a Marauder's, Berserker/Valk combo trades some precision/ferocity for vitality, while still keeping most of your offenses intact. It maximizes Reaper Shroud uptime, giving you more survivability and damage. Very fun build.

    Scrapper

Relies on damage-based barrier generation to stay alive while otherwise being glass. As such, it's more active and has less margin for error than the above builds.

A challenge? In an MMORPG? We have to stop this!
I don't like GW2, but if a game provides you with a challenge and forces you to stop hacking-and-slashing for a moment and start thinking about things like your class' build, an enemy's weakness, your current gear...
You might be playing a pretty good game.
LOL... As far as GW2 goes, this about the dumbest thing I have read to date.

Maybe for some other games, where the disparity between meta and non-meta is not that extreme, this might have been a nice little elitist L2P jackass post, but that is not the case with GW2.

Off Meta's output around 10% to 20% of what a Meta can output, so, as far as GW2 goes, Here is what you do, you go to Metabattle (or other meta build sites) pick the best one for your class / game mode, get the gear, learn the rotation, and mindlessly play that, and you will top out the DPS for whatever it is you want to play, don't over think it.

When Anet changes something, just go back to the Metabattle site, and update. Don't even bother to think about it, as GW2 is set up in such a way, that there really is no room for viable off Meta. Just the way they set up their game.

Again, in some other game, it might matter, but in GW2, Someone else already crunched the numbers on 3rd party sites, and you are not going to do a better job then they have, unless you are some Meta number crusher yourself, and chances are, if you were any good at that, your build is already up on a meta build site.

I've since put barely any time in since the first expansion, mainly because pre expansion they did a pass over most if not all classes. Prior to this I was able to solo a lot of world content on my ranger, only needing to team up for tough elites and champions. After this, most veterans were out of my league, and packs of more than 2 normals could give me a run for my money. I've played a little after, and I enjoy some of what is being offered. Zones are fun as well, if so damn packed it's damn near impossible for me on my main with my preferred setup. Alts, forget about it. Nice to see a teency bit of this though.
