Torchlight Infinite has a lot going for it. After seemingly disregarding Torchlight III entirely by creating a direct sequel to the much beloved Torchlight II, developer XD intends to deliver on every point that made the franchise great to begin with. Check out this list of the good and the bad Torchlight Infinite has to offer from the mobile closed beta.

I think it got better, but they aren't working on it anymore, so I don't really think it's worth it.

such a disappointment from this once fine franchise, TL 3 was hot garbage, I couldn't even stick thru the first act

Yes it mostly is not as bad as in the beginning but still not really good if you have the Gamepass for PC you can take a look as far as i know its part of it.

That screenshot in the last section "Sealed Mana" as well as the mechanic of Sealed Mana looks like they're taking a lot of inspiration (or outright ripping off) from Path of Exile.  Which is probably a good thing though (...probably) considering how long POE managed to last and how popular it is.

Hopefully they don't go around smashing everything with a nerf sledgehammer like Path of Exile has been doing the past year or two.

Also it is mobile game. Haha are they fucking with us?
It's going to be cross platform. Only the beta is mobile as far as I know.

I could not get over the toonish graphics. Diablo ok, dark themed. Path of Exile, blood gore, dark. Cartoon crap, not for me. And I will endure a lot in a game if it has good gameplay.

Color me extremely skeptical after the disaster that was TL3. Such a huge let down after the gems that were the first 2. Unless I see just piles of glowing reviews this one will be off the radar.

Agreed wholesale with other posters above. XD built a mobile game before, it is now called Torchlight 3. They left tons of systems linked to the mobile build and pretended it was a mainline release. T3 is basically like many early access games in steam, half finished on delivering on many of the promises of the game. Unfortunately, they are leaving it to die and on to this next one. A real shame after the success of TL 1 and 2.

I think many people forget that the torchlight games where not really successes when they first came out. It was the modders that made the games great. I mean they basically made entirely new games out of the game through modding. Without modding it isn't torchlight.

Also if I can't play it on one of the mobile emulators it will also be a hard pass. Don't enjoy gaming on phones at all. I have a desktop for a reason.

Looks to me like the only bright thing about it is the graphics art style. xD

But really, this might succeed because there are a lot of mobile gamers who have really low standards. I personally don't care about this game, but it would be nice if they don't make it Online-Only, that would be greedy and really suck.

Lost me with .. "its Mobile" welp ill always have torchlight 2 with mods to go back and play every now and then.. sad this franchise just fell off. How hard was it to just take torchlight 2 upgrade graphics add abilities and new story have mod availability and call it torchlight 3 .. package and make money jesus. Sometimes devs just get in they own way ..

It's not a Runic Games game! Not the same folks behind the IP.

What's the last good thing PW has put out?  They oversaw complete failures in TL3 and that MTG ARPG hybrid.

In discussion on Steam, many claim issues in Singleplayer mode with pets disappearing, lost items and such. I have always stuck to Multiplayer, even when playing solo, and have not had these problems. So, it appears to have issues but they can be avoided.

Other than that it's fine, but not the enhanced TL2 people were apparently hoping for. If you're receptive to the new ideas implemented and can deal with some of the old ones left behind you can get some enjoyment from it.

If not stay with the TL you have, or play something else.

Remnant: From the Ashes. It has pretty good ratings on both platforms.

    It's on Xbox PC GamePass

    And on Steam

I plan on installing it through GamePass and giving it a go. I've been looking for a certain kind of shooter since hitting burnout on Fallout 76. I'm having a hard time finding one that is scratching the "shootery" part of the itch.
Remnant is one of my biggest surprises in the last five years, really good game.

'But there are many. You can play them entirely solo, and even offline. Also, you are wrong by default.'

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

It is just huge resource waste....'

It is funny how much one can predict from the title alone. Well, ok maybe it is knowing the previous titles + a keyword "mobile" + the title.

Torchlight infinite is pretty good. I was a little worried about downloading taptap to install it but i gave it a shot anyways. Granted I haven't played torchlight 3 in a long time, but torchlight infinite is way better compared to the last time I played 3 and really addictive... depending on how far along closed beta is to release, there is a lot to do. I've seen full released games with less content, even if it gets a little repetitive.

A lot of the levels are just rehashed maps and the enemies change when difficulty levels increase, but the gear drops are good and I like the class options.

Keep in mind though, I play mobile games a lot these days. It's one of the better arpgs I've tried. You probably have to like torchlight to enjoy it in the first place though, and leveling is really quick, so I think maybe they've amped it up for testing. Plus the cash shop is mostly cosmetic but has a gacha roll system for boons that can feel a little pay to win, but nothing super crazy.

I dont know how it compares to Diablo immortal but I've been impressed.

If you want to play TL3 I'd recommend just buying a month of Xbox GamePass for PC ($10) or using a free trial. Not only could you play the game but then check out a ton of other games while you're at it before buying them. I rarely buy games now and just play what's on GP.

That's a good idea, provided one keeps in mind the game changes up a fair bit once the end game dungeon is opened up which each character must do separately. To fully experience what the game offers would require doing so on at least one character.

The inventory thing bothers me a lot. You will have to spend real money to increase it. I stay away from games that do this.
