It would be kind of interesting if they did what DCUO did and let you make your own character with hero/villain mentors.

Daybreak games is making this? Do they still have Smedly working for them? If so, This thing is going down in flames with gas filled tankers flying off a bridge into the flames covered with c4.

Smedley hasn't been with Daybreak for a long while now and if anything they got worse after he left.

Marvel Heroes was a fun game to play. I enjoyed it. Hope this one is completely different.

    "earn gear"

This tells me everything I need to know. Superheroes aren't about "earning gear." Gear should be a consideration for only a tiny minority of heroes, not a general fact of life.

This will be just anther copy-pasta MMO with an expensive Marvel skin plastered on top, full of all the free-to-play annoyances that plague the industry, especially Daybreak's filthy little corner of it.

Lucky .. or not, he's the general manager at Amazon Games .. and it shows. I mean look at New World.

So no need to worry about it.

So the Marvel Universe Online MMO is not even affiliated to Marvel, whats going on there?

Anyway can we blame Dimensional Ink for not announcing it is in development, as the next question will be 'why is it not out yet'?

I spent money in Marvel Heroes. Had a nice collection. Loved that game.

Since it was just yanked away like it was I have no faith in a Marvel mmorpg anymore.

Somewhere someone thought the comment "on future platforms" was associated with the unnamed game possibly hinting at being mobile :-( Although I know Jack E. is a PC player so let's hope.

It wont make it, the company is too big and everyone will want to get their fingers in it, they couldnt agree on MMO parameters when it was small.

Gah, Emmert hasn't even *touched* anything good since CoX. Granted, he can't be held responsible for the basic model of DCUO but I've always detested that game. Such great IP but the gameplay, UI, and everything else just seems so rough. Give us a Marvel MMO with the creativity and the freedom that CoX had and we'll have something. But based on his history since, that was just lightning in a bottle.

Just keep the DCUO team far away from this.....And it could be something special.

    Daybreak breaks games......

Hopefully they prove me wrong....We need a successful superhero mmo. DCUO was not a success; WB did not even have them mentioned on their video game site last I checked....But that was a year or so ago.

It is like "We don't even claim this game....moving on....hopefully folks forget about it, being a C-list mmo after-all"

Judging based on what they are hiring for it does say this under

"Senior Programmer, Gameplay - Unannounced Project" Followed by:

    • Required: Strong C++ programming ability, development for console and PC
    So I'm guessing PC/Console?

Unpopular opinion. With this and the LoL MMO, I don't want to create my own nobody. I want to play and customize the iconic characters.

I feel like we already have 8 million marvel games with iconic characters to play.  I'd finally like a new hero of my creation to join the universe.

And I feel like the niche of being able to play those iconic characters in an MMO setting is empty, because we lost the game that does it best.

And let's not entertain the notion of playing any of the phone guff (and it is total guff).

If it weren't for the stupid pay to win nonsense of marvel future revolution I'd say there's a lot of potential there. I feel like if an mmo just like it were to release there would be no reason to play it.

And we have the ultimate alliance series which is still pretty good and midnight suns coming out. Marvels avengers is junk but you never know what else is in the works too.

Even without the pay to win, I'd find it unplayable because of mobile controls.

So, it seems very likely that this untitled project is the recipient of Marvel pulling their license from Marvel Heroes, roughly 2 years ago.  That only ups the level of expectations for this game.  But since Dimensional Ink is far more familiar with DCUO, it's probably fair to say at this point that those expectations will be dashed.

Daybreak, no matter which subdivision, has only proven capable of producing expansions to their existing games.  Repetitive, non-inspired expansions.  They're always revisiting old 'lore' and 'lands' for both EQ and EQ2.  It feels like a fundamental lack of inspiration.

This Marvel project appears to be a new game; something that Daybreak hasn't delivered in many years.  A good result from this effort will *require* an abundance of inspiration and talent.  That's where I do not think that EG7 has at its disposal at present.

It would be a wonderful thing if EG7 could and would develop new products; we need companies devoted to building new MMORPGs.  However, I feel that the acquisition of this Marvel license only sets them up for selling Dimensional Ink.  After all, the value of DI alone isn't the same as the value of DI + a Marvel license.
