While the complicated ongoing legal situation facing Activision Blizzard continues, one promise from the company is soon to come true. The character of McCree in Overwatch finally has a new name, Cole Cassidy, which will go live next week.

    Jesse McCree was a goddamn good name for a cowboy though, so that's a shame.

    I read the article, if a name change of a character is the biggest impact we will see, I am not seeing much of any worth going on.

    Blizzard are a scumbag company who molest, harass, and bully employees on top of being greedy scumbags who also purposely cheat their customer base in unfinished products. Instead of trying to fix any of that they went the route of trying to change "offensive or inappropriate" names in all of their games. Mcree was an employee involved in said harassment.     Activison/Blizzard allowed misogynistic behavior at their offices to continue for years by either ignoring it or sweeping it under the rug. Along comes an official lawsuit by an outside authority where malfeasance was found and now the company is in panic mode throwing all the baddies they can find off the sledge to the starving wolves.

    These absolutely meaningless name changes are all part of an attempt at rebranding the company to show they have seen the error of their ways, have changed, and please oh please oh please don't sue us or put any of us in jail.

    Its a fiction, its a nonsense, the rot goes all the way to the company core that has set in for years. The only true way to fix this issue is to bounce anyone in power out on their asses for their blindness, complacency or their participation in bad behavior or cover up.
