sorry, only human player characters. No summoner/pet classes. Boring, uninspired and lazy. I will pass.

Given that practically all fantasy games have various incarnations of the fantasy trope races, I would say just having humans did require some imagination. And some dedication to their world building.

This is what? A fictional retelling of the Americas in the 15th century (?) or some such thing?

I don't think that's uninspired or lacks imagination. it certainly is different.

I'm expecting the game to change quite a bit in the next several years. MMO's can change a lot over time, and with Amazon's deep pockets, I figure this game will last for quite a while. And change quite a bit.

And the developers already showed that they will listen to their customers and make changes.

This is half true at least. The PvE and questing is pretty sad. I think there's a case to be made for the crafting, gathering and PvP are fine, but the PvE is actually in a sad state when I last touched it. It's very clear they pivoted from a different game design to this and it shows (poorly).

It doesn't matter if they add more to the map or more weapons. The core experience there for PvE isn't good. Between the unsatisfying combat, the slow walking over the map to do quests to artificially extend the time you're logged in, the uninteresting story bits, or how they don't really make you care about the faction you're a part of early on... It just all doesn't add up to a fun game for PvE or questing. Hopefully the expeditions are fun, but that's kinda lame if I have to play through the trash to get to the one part of the game that's good.

They don't get the benefit of the doubt of saying "we'll they'll add more after launch." Ok cool, but it's releasing soon and I don't care about "maybe's" and "could's" They aren't a small indie studio in Early Access with another year left in development.

As a long time player of the alphas(even before the game went public), the PvE content was always the biggest concern to me. Through every iteration they went through it always seemed to lack content, meaningful stuff to do. Some time goes by and they change the direction of the game to be more PvE oriented, I still worry. However who knows how quick they plan to release Content and how much content each update will have.

    I refunded this game already...BUT...

I may get it later down the road when it has more content PvE wise.

Sure, I really enjoy the Gathering, Crafting and Exploring, but at the end this is aimed at a PvP Mass Combat Guild/Faction vs Guild/Faction Crowd as of now.

That, to me is not enough to warrant me buying it at this time.

I wish those who enjoy it lot's of fun. :)

Go here kill this gather that make this, are there any actual interesting quests in the game?

So much doom and gloom. Lemme get my levels in and then move on to something else like I always do :)

the combat is pvp focused , in pve is boring as hell

tired of gather x , y ,z and craft the item , been there done that a dozen of times

they are adding pve as fast as they can , but imo not enough for pve players, amazon wanted to do a 180º and is going to fail on both pve and pvp.

too soon to say tho , maybe they surprise us all with tons of content

Once I heard it was PVP focused, I had no interest. Then I heard they were adding PVE content, which leads me to believe they are trying to get that crowd into the game, so PVP players have more bodies.

I have not played it nor will I, but from people I have talked to whom have, the PVE felt lackluster and tacked on with no real direction.

It will be interesting to see how long this game keeps its player base. Is there a way to turn off PVP and not see it at all? If not, I don't give it long before the PVE population takes a nose dive.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

I'll wait for reviews but I think the game will flop.

Yep, when i saw that question being asked the way it's phrased in this threads masthead; in my brain it was like: "Deeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrr"

It's become a bit painful to watch Amazon games trying so hard yet fumbling so easily.

Maybe. But in general, when you build two different chairs and try to sit between them, you always get two mediocre chairs and a sore bum.
After that, it is a question of how fast you decide on making one of the chairs your main focus, and then specialize in that.

I dont know. i played now 4 hours and it feels boring, even switching wepaons didnt change that. The combat "flow" feels good, but i did not get into it, i cant put my finger on why tbh.

Graphic wise it looks OK but from a new MMO and Amazons money i have expected something better, i mean BDO (not saying it is a better MMO) came out 2016 and even earlier in Korea and it looks better.

And i hate the jump animation ><<br />
I guess it will have its fans, but i am afraid that large guilds or Streamer Guilds will hold a huge part of the map and if you are not in their faction you are fucked anyway.

As with any MMO, there will be two main groups that play New World. There will be those that rush through the content, level as fast as possible, and then grow bored and complain there is not enough content (PVE or PVP). They will soon leave and go back to the tried and true MMO of choice to do the same dailies and other repetitive things that masquerade as end-game content.

The other group will be the group that approaches the game at a slower pace, taking their time and enjoying the scenery (both literally and figuratively). They will get fed up from being left behind and leave or be content with exploring everything the game has to offer.

Neither style is good or bad or right or wrong, it is what it is and has been that way for many years now.

With New World, there are a few things that will be interesting to watch. Will the opt-in and opt-out PVP keep players around? Also, will the buy to play aspect of the game change the conversation? In terms of the playerbase, I really think it will have a long, sustained pattern of players coming and going and suspect it will be a lot like GW2 in how players approach the game (and by that I mean the lack of a sub and not having to feel like you have to get your money's worth - GW2 is refreshing in that way). I think a lot of players will play for a while then take a break then come back and then take a break. Its easy to do with this model and has been the story of my relationship with GW2 for years now.

I can say this for me - never have I been more excited to craft and gather and explore and see the sites. I hated NW to begin with but I changed the way I approach the game and it changed it for me and soon became a favorite.

New World is wide and not deep. Its horizontal progression, not only vertical. It is the game I have been waiting for for a long time.
what about the group that stops to smell the roses and doesn't give a damn about getting left behind?

    My group !
One thing that has always struck me as very strange is how players put so much importance (as I do) into graphics and yet they want to rush on to the next location in the blink of an eye.

A car owner who thinks his car is a work of art will want to talk about that, someone who collects paintings wants to look at them talk about them, someone who is into interior decoration the same. But we turn our noses up at games that do not meet our graphical standards and then because there is a game to play we rush past the graphics as quickly as we can run with no mention of how good it all looks?

Would be quite hard to aim with a controller. I don't even think there's lock-on.

I have been playing in the alpha and beta for this game, and while it has improved there is only one thing I wish the game had for us pve'rs. TAMING! I was playing Mortal Online 2 open beta and was having tons of fun taming wolves, bears and horses (but I hate full loot pvp). I mean we could tame horses and sell for mounts, which this game also needs. It would be another pve experience at least.
