I’ll wait for the first ladder. It won’t start at launch.

Diablo II, the return of the "we have no more original ideas and need money badly while knowing that playerbase is desperate enough to spend money on a game they already bought many times over".

Lets get back Pac Man next.

So stoked for fresh servers. Lets see how they handle bugs and the other exploits. Pretty stoked on the changes to killing cow king and ladder runewords being allowed in non ladder. I would have preferred the ladder being available day 1 and ladder runewords only in ladder but the route they chose is fine with me too. Spirit day 1 incoming.

and they are charging more for this than it was at launch. Should give a discount to those that already have the original linked to their Battlenet accounts

I mean, I'm also against of "milking" franchises, but .. it's not really the case with D2 or any other Blizzard "Classic Games".

Because literally, we, the community have asked for them, starting with WoW Classic. Yes yes, maybe not you, but I did, and many others. If they would released the said games without the...community really wanting them, then you would of had a...case.

Well one could argue that the reason a lot of people want old school games remastered or relaunched is because the company didn't provide anything original and good for the past decade.

One could make that argument, but that doesn't make it any less stupid. It's very difficult to reach the pinnacle of an art form. Most people don't ever manage it. Those that do often manage it once. Expecting Blizzard to offer something comparable to one of the greatest and most critically acclaimed video games of all time is pretty unreasonable and toxic. It's like a parent expecting a child to get higher grades after they've already achieved the highest grade possible. There will always be demand for Diablo 2. Blizzard could make the greatest video game of all time, and people would still want to buy and play Diablo 2. It's monolithic and - with some TLC - timeless, regardless of whether Blizzard - or anyone else - makes better games (and they arguably have).

I didn't say anything about expectations or demands. I said the reason many people want old games back is because their new products aren't as good as their old ones.

You think it is impossible for them to make better games because they have already peaked? Alright. How does that negate what I said? And how does it make my point "stupid"?

Some games deserve to be preserved,  improved, and given a second chance at a new audience. Diablo II is one of them.

New games are coming out at a faster rate than they ever have. There are way more games than anyone can even play, and that's still true even if we aren't factoring in the indie hipster-heroes.

On that note, I wish they had done a remake instead of a remaster. FFVII is also one of those games, and the remake worked out for the best. Don't get me wrong, I'd play the heck out of D2 Remaster. That is just a wish, and Blizzard certainly had the resources to make that happen. But I think maybe they didn't do it because they were afraid it would actually eclipse D4. A D2 remake would eclipse life itself!   :#
