Gave it a week or so recently.  It was decent right up until you hit the Red Zone.    Everyone just standing around unflagged by the entrance to the zone waiting to flag up and gank people.   Pretty silly.  Especially as it's the introduction to full loot.

You pretty much absolutely would need to subscribe to play.  It's not "mandatory" but you have a huge disadvantage if you do not.

Having a pve server would probably make pve players experience worse when it comes to this game. The whole pve aspect of the game is build around player driven economy. Even if you're only focused on dungeons it comes down to trading and making best of your loot in the end. And having full loot pvp makes everything better for pve players. You have a dynamic economy and constant demand for every single shit in the game.

I play Albion as my main mmorpg for almost 5 months now and I'm not a pvp focused player. I only do pvp for corrupted dungeons, arenas and faction warfare which most of the time has no risks and i have to opt in to participate. I mainly focus on my islands, gathering and dungeons. And I'm having a blast.

For the red and black zones just find yourself a decent beginner friendly guild and you're good to go. And btw black zones are less risky if u ask me compered to red zones and more rewarding in the long term. You just need a guild with a hideout in the outlands.

Thanks for making me consider heading back to Albion when I've just started playing Hunt Showdown while having about 100+ games on my pile of shame and Diablo 2 and New World just around the corner! In need a 48h day or a clone.

The only problem with it is there is pvp.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

Gaheris the PvE server on DAoC had a player driven economy and it worked fine. That server has outlasted a lot of PvP servers too . I think decay and destruction of gear is the best replacement for full loot in a server like that when the game is mainly PvP. It encourages trade or an army of alts.

I never can quite grasp the concept of people saying I'm not much of a PvP player and then proceed to list the number PvP activities they participate in.

When I play a PvP game I actually only do the PvE part only where possible. I will avoid the PvP at all costs so I can actually describe myself as not much of a PvP player.   >:)
