I bought Gedonia and Legioncraft off the Steam sale....Gedonia ran very poorly  and Legioncraft had major translation issues...Refunded both....I almost think the 2 hour play window on Steam is a bad thing, at least for me...i jsut find myself looking for reasons not to keep the game and too often do refund....I also noticed many reviews are 10 hours or less so I am not sure most people are getting their money's worth these days.

I've complained about the 2 hour refund policy, too.  For some games, it;s okay.  For others, it's completely inadequate.  I got SWTOR through Steam (several years back), it downloaded far longer than the 2 hour refund window.  I think I was in-game around hour 14 (overnight).  Games that download a launcher, which then downloads the game really mess with that policy.

Now it's open. There's so much issues with that 2h refund policy. Let's begin eith the next biggest one(after the brainfart that you mentioned): can you actually experience a game within just 2 hours? Maybe in some ultra basic form, yes. But speaking of an RPG of any sort? No, just no. You can't experience it. Even the midgame will be drastically different, let alone lategame. And, lo and behold, you might actually enjoy the game once it opens up.

...what this encourages is just judging a product by its cover(as it were). It's not a proper demo imo. Imo, a trial should last for 10% of average playtime. Min 2h, avg 4h, max 6h.

    What do you think?

Yep.  4-6 hours for most games, 10-12 for an MMO.  And don't start the timer until you can get in the game.  Newly released multiplayer games have a history of attracting problems, including DDoS attacks, which prevents you from even getting in a game well past the refund timer.  And the refund timer should start *beyond* any character creator.  I can spend hours there only to hate the game later.

On another note, anyone here check out that Carrier Command 2 play test? Depending on how many maps and varying degrees of content that game could be fun with a group. What I tried of it solo I enjoyed.

also this, retro graphics just because...

Creeper World 4 ($19.99 -20%) - Never even heard of this series, was a Surprise hit for me, never expected I would enjoy a game like this. Tower Defense

BDO ($.99 -90%) - Played a couple hours to lev 25, seems like EZ mode leveling now, wont continue. MMO

Stardew Valley ($8.99 -40%) - Played a few hours, not my kind of game, too much like Sims. Simulation

The Forest ($9.99 - 50%) - Sorta OK but very buggy, Very Scary Survival

    No Man's Sky ($29.99 -50%) - Like it so far, Open-world Exploration/Survival

    Satisfactory ($23.99 -20%) - Not played

    Civ VI ($14.99 -75%) - Not played

Hearts of Iron IV (9.99 -75%) - Not played

Subnautica ($29.99 -0%) - Got this earlier this year before sale, was totally worth full price, loved this game.  Original game is better than the Sequel (Subnautica Below Zero) most people say, so beware). Open-world Exploration/Survival

I don't think the 2hr window is locked in.  Its just more guaranteed.

I know I had a game refunded with 4.5 hours played.  I was basically in starting/tutorial cutscenes and character creator for 3 hours.  So I told them that I was only able to play for less than 2hrs and they refunded me no questions asked.  My son also had a copy and was refunded too, same situation.

This was like 2yrs ago so maybe its changed since then.  But if you find yourself in that situation, I would still give it a shot.

I have also had a game I was at 3hrs recently and they refunded.   Cant remember if I got prompted for additional info or not.  Either way I still was refunded.

Not much on my wishlist worth going for this time. Still have some unplayed games from last time tbh. If I had to pick a couple it’d probably be Madden 21 or Cyberpunk 2077. I’ll wait for now.

I picked up Surviving the Aftermath, an interesting little strategy game of building a colony after the apocalypse.

Its been an OK game, pretty standard resource management and expansion type of game. Has an OK mini-game type thing where you send specialists out from your colony to loot resources and kill local gangs. The minigame is a bit like the map mode from the Total War games, except just agents.

Some clear early access stuff, no bugs or anything but areas of gameplay and design that need a bit more polish. Considering how much of the game is about resource management, it gives you very little information about what you're actually producing. Like, a lumber mill will say it's producing "2 planks".....but not how often, and watching the timers it's very inconsistent.

Expansion is also heavily limited by population: no point building a new farm unless you have someone to work on it! But, population is out of your control for a long time - groups of strangers will randomly appear at your gates and you can take them in, but beyond that, what you got is what you got.

Looking forwards to playing the game once it's fully released and the mod community has had some time to add more stuff.
