It's classic there wasn't fast track as far as I remember. "Progression will be at a moderate pace in keeping with the original game." In truth I thought progression was fast but I played Lineage 2 so that sort of warped my perception a bit.

played from launch and was templar, it took a month to lvl 50, so nope aion on lvling departament is fast as hell, gearing up in the other hand...., but pvp gear could be used on pve without a problem, hell most of time it would save time

A full month to max? That's not very fast to me. Everything above 14 days is too long. Ok, I've been spoiled by many modern MMOs and private servers alike. I can tolerate it if you get the core of your character class online rather quickly, otherwise...rip.

I suppose it depends on your game experience. Lineage 2 had classic "Asian Grinder" leveling and it once took me half a year to get to the my next level. Of course, this was at the extreme higher levels.

A month seems like chump change.

Oh I loved it. But that was the thing, it wasn't "just" about leveling. The world felt more alive as there were clan/alliance wars, people holding bridges hostage unless you paid a toll, infamous pk'ers, alliances taking over large grinding spots (like Cruma) people helping people, getting lost if you dropped your map, etc etc etc.

And the leveling was what you did between and during all that.

It wasn't quite a living world but "it was a living world."

The few raids that were there were quite epic, the raid drops were high level gear which you could craft or buy on your own but they were very expensive or risky to craft.

It was more about players interacting than just "leveling."

That sounds kinda like rose-coloured glasses. Not that I disagree with you, I did love the game back then. They really did drop the ball down IT's sewer when they turn off all but a few zones.

    Honestly, all that stuff happened.

Over the years I've been on this site I've mentioned my stories of my alliance descending on Tower of Insolence and marching to the top because another alliance pk'ed our people and we weren't having it.

We have EviSeed on Hindemith who was a good enough guy, never verbally abused anyone but he would pk you if he could and he mostly could as he was very high level. He was so high that he discovered a bug where his name turned "white" even though he was a "red."

I had one of the best sieges which was an entire two hours, massive groups on either side and at the start, many of us crashed as it was just too much for the area. We got back in though.

We had a clan take over Cruma and they would Pk anyone who came through the teleporter. They did this so they could have it all to themselves for leveling.

At the start, we had people threaten to pk if they didn't pay a toll.

I did get lost when I dropped my map on death and I spawned in Gludio because I was too far south from Dark Elf Village. I headed north and almost didn't make it but for a passing stranger who helped me with the spiders trying to kill me.

I played from Prelude through Chronicle 5 on Hindemith and anyone on that server could back up this stuff. It was a pretty awesome time. And no, I"m not saying that it could happen again. But it did happen and more.

When you have a PVP game where you rely upon your clanmates to actually "be there" you get a completely different type of gameplay and experience.

In any case, Aion is NOT that game. But I have had a few great pvp experiences and would like to have more. I think I'll try the classic server.

Eh, its good for the people that liked the original game. I think the train of thought people should want to adopt is wanting a space for everyone, not the development we see now trying to cater to every person in a singular space. Some people like slow exp rates and grinding gear for months/years and some like how things are today. We shouldn't have to choose since it just saves companies money by just picking one. Stop defending the rich being lazy (generalized statement, not aimed at anyone in particular).

Really? I played the beta and game release, if classic is even close no thanks, spent hours in dungeons and got absolutely no drops from the mobs, no drops from the bosses if you were lucky enough to get a drop it wasnt always class specific, even the general mobs only dropped trash in the open world, pvp omg I loved it flying and attack someone was amazing however getting medals for the pvp gear was ridiculous period. Loved my healer and mage but the ridiculous grind of this game destroyed it period.

Ah, for those concerned about "long" leveling, here you go:

"However, there are many players who experienced difficulties in the original Aion due to the high EXP required to advance. These issues have been corrected in Classic and adjustments have been made so that the highest level can be reached in a shorter amount of time."

Good grief is every MMO doing a classic? This one wasnt even very good.
It is worse, the entire industry is doing MUCH less work and bringing back old games sometiems reskinned, vanilla servers, cosmetic cash shops are becoming the norm, season passes are the norm.It seems like everyday some studio is having some BS celebration,it is all just a bunch of advertising and marketing, nobody is putting any effort into games anymore.
Lets port games over to mobile, more greed more money. There is not ONE AAA develoepr on the entire planet ,right now it is just a bunch of scummy studios and publishers out to get your money any dubious ,LAZY way they can.

it takes less people, less money, less time to just rehash the old, remake all the old classics, reskin them anyway to make money by doing very little.

It is one giant pile of garbage and loads of whales throwing money at it.

Just look at the daily articles on sites, they are not NEW game articles they are just marketing cash shops and advertising gimmicks like REWARDS for login, special rewards celebration bla bla bla.

It is like waking up to a nightmare.

Just over two weeks is so fast. That's like no time for advertisement. Pretty weird on their end to launch like this.

NCWest would benefit from postponing the launch by a few weeks to allow for more advertisement on Twitch/YouTube. Even if they choose not to promote via ads, 2 weeks is hardly enough time for the news to spread by word of mouth.

Apart from those who follow the game, most people I've spoken with have no clue about Aion Classic - including friends who played Aion in the past. Of those who are aware of the launch, the general consensus has been "I'll give it a try", but very few are genuinely excited about it. I'm sure the fears of P2W and videos addressing the KR bot situation only raise more skepticism. NCWest hasn't put out any statements on these issues, which should be a priority for the NA launch.

As Aion is one of my favorite MMOs of all time, I really hope that NCSoft tries to improve on their mistakes this time around. So far, I remain skeptical.

The talk is already on youtube so I think it will have a decent amount of people in the know. Type in Aion Classic and you will see more and more videos.

There is one guy who says that after he played on Korea he felt Aion Classic was like Aion but better balanced and better done.

I don't know if that's true or even good (or bad) but we'll see.

Why only 4 of the original classes, I would expect all of the original classes that were there at release would be playable.. anybody know the backstory to this?

There was only 4 original classes in Classic. Each had their own sub-classes.
