    Best free MMO? maybe Silkroad Online? you could also try games like Rakion or something haha.

    best free MMO right now...Shadowbane..and it's not going away like a lot of people thought it would be. Apparently SB will be around for quite some time.

    SRO is a horrid grind, as far as I've seen.

    I just checked out Project Entropia. It's totally free and you can actually make real life money on it if you spend enough time. The graphics are actually really nice if you turn on the AA. I could tell it's a pure addictive game like Anarchy Online or EQ but I couldn't play because there is no option to change screen resolution and my monitor doesn't like it.

    That entropia thing looks more like some kind of virtual vacation rather than an exiting game.. :

    I know how youre feelin mate, ive travelled far and wide to find an mmorpg thats worth it. last i came across was SRO, but, like whats already been said, its really just a grind.

    Also, can you still play AO for free? i remember the months and months ago i played it, it was supposed to be free only 'til january this year lol. All i get now is emails saying i can upgrade with all expansions for free, but a subscription i have to pay and i cant go back :/

    tbh, i wouldnt recommend SRO unless you wanna put the time in for grinding, and put up with botters, random 5 second delays and slow levelling early on if you want to acquire skills faster later on, EQ costs and the dude says hes skint (like me), and i personally got very frustrated at AO at how people with rich friends could equip good weapons and implants simply via being buffed temporarily and having the stuff bought for them. Levelling is very easy early on, which had a serious knock on effect on my money accumulation. I ended up spending more money on levelling up a balaclava i owned (i could incrase its level to my level at most) than how much i made during levelling up :(

    You should probably post in the AO forums and ask for some rich people to give you a nice head start, it has fun sides to it: furnishing your own appartment, the complexity and uniqueness of developing abilities, the vast lands to explore alone or as a team, and the numerous professions.

    Now im getting interested in it again lol....i want an mmorpg that i can settle down with for once, rather than travelling from one to another being unable to fully enjoy it

    I have a few games to advise against. First, Planetside. This is because there are limitations if you do not pay, to the extent that you can gain the highest battle rank (their version of 'level') in less than one day of play. Granted the graphics and instant action fun are great, but you get a lot more if you pay.

    Second, Face of Mankind. Its not worth your money or your time due to the sheer fact that there is no character development. There are also issues such as the aspects of the game not being fully implemented (exp) and the game only being held together because people need to get noticed by other players to get promoted, people dont want to be making a thousand clips of ammo only to find 20 other players are selling them extremely cheap already, and colonies that have been taken over need defending. Other than that, its just a bore hanging around waiting for enemy factions to turn up or for your stuff on the market to sell.

    Third, id go against mmos such as gunz, rakion and gunbound. I feel it has less of a commitment issue, its more of a short thing you take the odd 5 minutes doing. You either like it a a megaton, and spend ages, or get bored after the first few levels. Personally, i keep getting bored of them lol. Games with an actual game world in which all players can move around and interact let you get to know more people, and have more in depth rp events. Also, with monsters AND other people to fight, there is always some competition - you arent bored waiting for other people to show up to fight

    Fourth, ive played Project Entropia, and it requires a reeeaally long time to begin to enjoy. it appears to be a good game, but it ultimately turns into a type of casino. You put some money into it to get good stuff, but then there are repair costs etc etc and you then end up putting a bit more in, and eventually youre losing a lot more than you gain. Making real life money in the game is true, but take a minute to realise that they expect people to realise this and have many ways of making you have to waste this money before you can turn it into physcial form. Also, when you start it will be like a world you can never hope to enter, because it takes weeks to make enough in game money for any decent equpment ,let alone cold hard cash

    Hope this helps ya. and if youre interested in starting SRO , pm me, or, if you can, add my IGN, its EternalLight. I can help you start off effectively

    I am already a lvl 19 spearperson or whatever in SRO, one of the things that really ticked me off was the fact that there was no exiting exploration at all.. If your going to make a game fully 3d and beatiful you'd might as well design some dungeons or forest areas with secrets to find or something.. There were alot of nice buildings in SRO also but I couldnt go inside!! It was just a big invisible wall guarding it. <.<;

    Ah yes, that also, the shear lack of decent exploration is a bit of a downer. When Im bored of grinding i like to take a little stroll around.....not worth it on SRO though :(

    Im a level 16 spear/lightning/int atm, reconsidering playing because a few mates who started around the same time have given up. somehow one of them says 'what do we get out of it in the end' but seems perfectly happy enough playing counterstrike. I wish he would justify himself properly instead of calling me a noob all the time....the retard....aaanyhoo. im gonna have a little look at AO probably today, even though i have an exam tomorrow lol.

    Oh yeah, another thing, Knight Online, last i checked, had the worst delay you will ever come across. plus i dont think the choice of professions were that good, they should have made more.
