    I am really tired of redemption stories. Personally, I think they need to wipe out a few of the characters here and move on building up new ones...

    The problem I have with Blizzard's WoW lore is that they sell half of it resulting in a mediocre in game story telling experience. Sylvanas to me is definitely one of wow characters with the most potential simply because she's undead and honestly never really 'fit in' with Azeroth. The problem is that you need to comb through like 2-3 books to really understand some of her motivations and perspectives. I know there's only so much Blizzard can incorporate into the game, but the game really does suffer more from a narrative pacing problem vs writing. They're trying to focus on too much instead of just going one character arc at a time and eventually coming to bigger arcs. Its kind of always felt like their biggest issue to me since WoD where they just said "Hey, Grommash gets betrayed and now he's your friend, the end, now go chase Gul'dan." Say what you will about WoD, but the start had a really good build up, except for Nerzhul and Kargath. They deserved at least their own raids.

    I imagine an arc coming.  For me though, I wouldn't want to be a writer and have to write it during an expansion where Arthas and garrosh seem to be getting their redemption too.  Gonna be about as hard as it gets to please people with three fan favorite characters at once.

    If they pull it off, it'll be legendary

    I dunno what the heck will happen with Sylvanas but that would totally work, anything is better than a simple redemption exit, but yeah that raid is sounding pretty awesome :)

    Watched the video and there was a excellent point made, the platform is not only an entrance, but also the exit to our reality. Hmmm?

    So tired of narratives where a thoroughly evil person gets a pass in the end because "we're not like them."

    It's time to turn Keanu Reeves, Liam Neeson and Uma Thurman loose on them... and enjoy it :)

    As much as I love the character Sylvanas, there can be no redemption for what she has done.

    I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

    Well, I don't agree with redeeming Sylvanas but I dont agree with 'killing her off' either since her character is a bit too complex for that. Being an 'adult' for a moment, it feels like they're either trying to write her off somehow like they did with Illidan because the voice actress might be tired of voicing her, or at least feels like. She has been voicing the character for about 17 years and even Metsen got a bit tired of voicing characters full time.

    You can't redeem a character that that committed genocide. That would be like saying Hitler is redeemable (yeah, i went there but this is Blizzard we are talking about they only tell story in extremes)

    Is this satire?

    If you think Blizzard-Activision is, after years and years (and let's face it--Warcraft lore was never exactly "great writing" to begin with, and now... lol), going to pull off this epic plot twist redemption arc to a character many fans see as irredeemable and a husk of her former characterization?

    You're either willfully ignorant, new to this franchise, or a -real- big fan that's a bit out of touch with the reality of the current story situation. Also, frankly the idea still sounds pretty dumb. Garrosh, at this point (and no, I don't like him) is a more fitting candidate for redemption. I don't even play WoW any more, and haven't since the first week of BFA, but I've kept up enough on the story to know people are pretty sick of Slyvanas at this point, and almost no one wants a redemption arc of any sort.

    Illidan and Grommash....so I dont think a lot of people would be surprised with Sylvanas. The thing about Sylvanas though is that she's always tried to do stuff like this, just on a smaller scale. From her perspective, it makes 'sense' because how else is her 'race' supposed to 'pro-create.' Her race essentially 'dies' in wars for the horde yet her own faction is disgusted with the idea of raising dead enemies and/or allies to replenish her ranks. So essentially, the undead were always seen as 'tools.' I'm not saying her motivations are 'right' or 'wrong' but it does add a bit more depth to her character than probably others. Keep in mind too that undeath is something that BOTH light and void fear. Again, the real problem is that half of this stuff isn't really provided in game and some of the stuff that is, you kind of need to go out of your way to find.

    Since back when she was obstinate with Garrosh about needing more undead to maintain her people I have believed she had plans of constructing a large army; to what end tho?

    Her actions made me think she still had a link to the Lich King's mind. But that is Bolvar...he has no malicious plans, just maintenance of the scourge...

    But, being the Ranger General, stalker of stalkers, scout of scouts, what if she could see in this mind link that Bolvar was fighting something else...that he was not the only other entity involved in that link. Then using her skills she found The Jailer was tormenting Bolvar, and he was resisting like the badass he is. At some point, some small window of time when the link with the Jaileror the Maw or whatever was down Sylvannas revealed herself to Bolvar and together they orchestrated a plan, a ruse;

    How do you get Anduin and Tyrande to show up to fight the Jailer and his forces without tipping your hand that you know the Jailer's plans? How do you bring an army of the living to the afterlife; assuming you don't know "The Champion" can open gates to allow this?

    Burn Teldrassil to conscribe scores of Night Elves to an Undead army; Piss off Tyrande to become a fabled, legendary Night Warrior; make Anduin the "conduit" of the Jailer, also proving his resolve to be on the right side by giving him a choice;

    Choice, choice, choice. She can't tell them or explain to them; it must be their individual choice...

    Nathanos has been interdicting those scores of Night Elves; perhaps hidden among the thralls (sorry pun lol) of the Jailer's army;

    At just the right moment; everyone is there; Sylvannas reveals all perhaps sacrificing herself, Bolvar coaches Anduin how to break free using his experience in mental battle with the Jailer, Tyrande takes command of the Undead Night Elf army;

    The Jailer is there alone against an Undead army Sylvannas commands, An Undead Night Elf Army Tyrande commands, Anduin and Bolvar, and the Four sigil-holders and their forces.

    I've been saying it before and I will say it again. Probably around the launch of WoTLK, the story of WoW became trash.

    WHY?

    Because they exhausted the existing story that concluded in WC3 and now they had a successful game where they had to continue the story. But a game is considered successful, mostly due to its mechanics, story is secondary. I even know people who can't speak English and were more addicted to WoW than I was, they gave jack shit about the story and just enjoyed the game for what it was - leveling, PvE, PvP.

    So story is obviously secondary in WoW and this can be perfectly seen since WoTLK and CATA and onwards to the latest expansion.

    Simply put the story is developed around gameplay mechanics, not the other way around. This makes for one massive mess of a story that stopped making sense more than 10 years ago, it just keeps on going - back and forth, copy-paste, back and forth, copy-paste. A couple of expansions' themes were literally the same thing:

    WoD and Legion feel like TBC 2.0 and TBC 3.0 with the stupid demon theme

    BfA was literally like Vanilla 2.0 due to the theme of Alliance and Horde fighting each other being the main focus

    Shadowlands feels like WoTLK 2.0 with how it involves the Lich King and Anduin also becomes something like a Lich King

    The story is simply put a shitshow. They just can't come up with anything new anymore and it shows left and right.

    I just keep wondering what kind of people still pay for this game, it's like kept on life support at this point with nothing new or interesting happening to it. I expect at one point when subscription numbers get so low that nothing they do will increase them, they will make WoW F2P, probably in the sense of ESO, where some of the newer expansions still have to be purchased.

    Why redeem her? No, she is beyond redemption.

    See.. that's exactly the sort of redemption of Sylvanas I wouldn't at all be ok with. To have killed so many just to manipulate people into this would be terrible. It would make all the terrible things she's done worse, not better.

    Sylvanas is a great character appealing to female and male demographics from the the point of view of marketing team @Blizzard.  Just my opinion.

    They'll probably do something lame like bind her and rest her character from plots for a bit.  Then she'll be unbound  in desperation in a future storyline... which will give her an anti-hero arch.

    IKR, It is the most redeeming scenario I can dream up otherwise it is some other weird nonsense where she is killed and that's that. A complete waste of a decade of her story and character arc.
