This system would have been 100000000000000000x better if you could create your own companion. Everyone is going to be running around with the same one. Stupid.

They just need to put in lots of helmets. You wont know who is who. Seems like a good feature but i have no interest in grinding one out.

Agreed, but then again, that's really not too much different then SWToR right? I've not looked into the companion system in ESO, but wonder how much inspiration they took from SWToR if any...

ESO changes the appearance of npc's accompanying other players so that when you are escorting on a quest you see a random NPC with the other players rather than the questgiver. But they are seeing the questgiver and to them other players appear to be accompanied by a random NPC.

Some kind of phasing I guess, probably has a technical name.

I don't know to what degree they can randomise the appearance of other people's companions but no one else's will look like yours.

Are you sure? I've seen nothing about that.

I think he's talking about when you do a quest, I haven't seen if this is confirmed for companions but I don't see why they wouldn't. If you're on a quest with Lyris titanborn and look around at players doing the same quest, you don't see Lyris Titanborn with them, you see some random npc soldier. WoW does the same thing. It makes sense that they would do that here, in this instance.

Zenimax has done a really good job with ESO, the turn around from launch is nothing short of miraculous, comparable to FF14 and No Man's Sky in terms of "Fixing" a game. Probably why it's the only MMO I'm subbed to, even though it doesn't even need one to play.
