Perfect World entertainment is one of the absolute worst for pay to win. Everything they touch turns to a grindfest/cash sink.

I must be too old I don't even understand the possible appeal of enduring a cash-shop in the testing phase of a game lol but I have witnessed & endured PWE's & Cryptic's transitioning of Star Trek Online into a more casino than video game over the years.

I've accepted that many EA and open beta games have shops.  If the game was better I'd probably be open to spending during open beta as there are no wipes.  I just don't think the card system would ever be appealing to me, but I loved unlocking heroes in Marvel Heroes so slowly unlocking classes in an ARPG isn't an issue for me.

I don't understand how some people are still surprised with cash shops at this point. Its become the norm now (sadly).

The way i see it nowadays they try how far can go with cash shop , and then tone it down if the community goes into a outrage .

i do like the game because i like MTG , but i wont spend hundred of dollars on a video to get classes or skins .

I mentioned things relating to the monetization in the other thread just yesterday and today they make this announcement..

    https://www.mmorpg.com/columns/5-things-i-like-and-5-i-dont-about-the-magic-legends-open-beta-2000121460

I said in my post in that thread that I'd worked out the math for how much they made from the packs which was low and IMO was the entire reason for releasing in such a poor state to gauge how well their monetization would do. Now that they have the same numbers I came up with they are very obviously re-calculating things cause they know it is not good for the long term the way they had it set up.

Gave it a try today (still in tutorial I think), and honestly, it could have potential if they don't screw it up. I was stuttering quite a bit, and didn't play for long since people kept reporting it makes your system heat up. I'll keep it installed for now and see how it improves for the future.

Also, I really enjoyed how it plays with a controller. It felt like it worked very nicely. Wish more games of the same style opted for more choices than sticking solely to click to move.

Ricossa may take the cake for most bland and personality devoid developer in gaming. Dude never says anything other then the BS talking points his bosses tell him to. I’ve watched him for ten years and couldn’t tell you a single thing about him other than any game he’s involved in is going to be trash P2W casino Lott box vehicle with a game skinned over it.

    - games, their "development" today, It is utterly disgusting. It's like everything else termed "late stage capitalism", it's about the "monetization" first with oh yes, we'll skin a, oh I suppose a "game" over-top of that. All these not even half done games they sell full price as "Early Access", and all the seemingly endless "kickstarter" crap that sucks in the cha-ching and never sees the light-of-day. So much crap. All the PTW, all the milking cash shops, god it turns the stomach. I tried this one for a few minutes tried 2 different bland generic "characters", saw how any kind of individuality was all about the cha-ching, messed around a bit, as much as I could stomach without being bored to death, UN-installed. Also tried logging into the "new" "Mortal Online II", Ha!, another perfect example. Of course I have enough of a memory to have known before hand where -that- was heading. It'll be amusing to see the usual suspect fanbois make their usual excuses as -that- company rinse/repeats what they did previously. So much wisdom in some cliche's that people never seem to learn in this case "fool me once..."

There aren't many companies I detest as strongly as cryptic.

    Lie to your players frequently?
Quietly remove content from games rather than fix it?
    Extreme over monetisation?
    Lock content behind paywalls?
Gambling boxes and most new game specific content locked behind them? (In the case of sto it's ships or bridge officers, in magic it was the classes..etc)

All the trademark pieces of a cryptic studio game. Really a shame.

The fact that the game has a cash shop with tons of things to purchase including a season pass-- WITH TWO TIERS-- while the game itself suffers from horrific problems (nevermind being actually unfinished), just shows what PWE wants: Money.

The game is terrible and feels like it belongs on Mobile. It's just using the MTG license to pull people in. MTG nerd friend and I tried it and we'd rather play Diablo 3.. which we stopped playing years ago.

The game needs months of work before anyone should be looking at it again.

Not sure what you are saying. Because I few "loud" people dislike the game, it's the dev's fault, even if other people are enjoying the game ? But because so many "loud" people find the game "horrible" everyone one should find the game horrible ?

There is a process called logic, even a courses you can take in college, required for certain degrees, you should look into that and come back in a year and reread your post. :)

at this point I'm wondering how many accounts dk has ?
It's more than a FEW people that dislike the game.  It's already dead on twitch, except during popular streamers paid streams.  And the non paid ARPG streamers that tried it really didn't have great things to say at all.  and they haven't returned to the game.

It's even worse than what happened with PW's last ARPG, Torchlight 3.  That game at least had enjoyable combat and didn't make you choose from random skills that you could never even discard. LOL

Me and other 5 friends left after few hours of play, the game performance is worse i ever seen.
Look at Neverwinter same engine and till to day the game is clunky as hell.
If am going to pay money i would rather do it on a game that plays well.

I'm detecting an outlier here, but I also don't like mob mentality.

That being said, people who do not like this game put up a lot of rational reasons... from performance, to gameplay, to cash shop.

Then there like 1 or 2 who like/defend the game, that instead of giving positive review details and links (etc.)... are weirdly getting personal about this game and maybe should have a civilized  :D conversation on the merits of the game.

Not whether forum members posting their opinions need to go study this or that... if you like the game cool.  Post why, or dispute bogus claims.  Just don't get personal, we already have a thread about the consequences of that.  Maybe just walk away entirely if you're too frustrated.  I don't  know.   B)

They are announcing monetization changes just a few days into the game which may seem like good news to some but considering they are making those changes because sales were very low should put people on guard about spending any more money for now. Magic cancelled their game with NetMarble recently and that game was out for around a year now(I think) collecting money that whole time. Those people who spent money on that game won't be getting it back.

Whatever personal feelings anyone has towards the game doesn't matter to the devs + Hasbro they are only concerned about the money. This could be the best game ever made but if they went the wrong monetization route like they clearly did who knows what's being discussed behind the scenes. The fact that they are able to announce the changes so quickly makes me think they are resorting to the plan B that was already planned if the game didn't initially produce big earnings.

It is a cheap dumpster trash game that had very little effort put into it,there shouldn't be anything more than a one time purchase.

A battle pass alone is more money than the game is worth so ANY added monetization is pure greed.

Paywall unlocks ..lmao seriously,i think not the unlock should be to pay once and you unlock the entire game. The monetization greed in gaming right now is atrocious.

    Garbage pay2win trash.

Total Twitch viewers dropped to less than 1000 already.

    p2w to unlock classes
    p2w to buy unlimited gold
    p2w buy battlepass
    p2w buy x2 drop boosts

I hope other devs learn from this complete failure.

While gamer attention span has gone down under, logically speaking it's on devs to deliver a good introductory experience. It's their product and if a part of it is subpar, it's on them. It most likely isn't on purpose, but due to a mixture ofelements, but that changes nothing. Subpar is subpar and it's on them to handle it and design it properly.
