I gave MMOs a lot of years o get better and become the immersive atmosphere i expected to one day see.NOW i truly realize it is not going to happen,it is a BUSINESS that needs to cater to the bigger $$.
Let me think of a very recent game,SOL saga of lucimia. They were making a passionate game or the best game they could afford to make, well they were bombarded with nobody is going to play your game so they changed and went for a pvp game.
We can even look at Fortnite,Epic games saw way more money simply having a BR game so they scrapped several games and turned FN into a BR.So now all Epic does is sell stuff in a cash shop.
I feel you missed your last chance,FFXI was an incredible social game,a true MMO experience but even that game changed.
I feel 99% of th players in mmo communities care more about their material belongings than they do about the player next door. You see at one time FFXI was NOT about gear,it mattered VERY little, your GROUP,the other people around you mattered. So because people were in what were known as "camps"they had time to sit around and talk, progression with social activity,a nice combo.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

Any time the initials are SOL the game most likely isn't going to work out..........
That and POS!
(shit out of luck and piece of shit...)

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse. - FARGIN_WAR
Another social game is Tower Unite; pretty underrated imho. Lots of mini games, casino, bowling, fishing and you can deck out your own pad; plus the best mini-golf game I have found so far. Still in EA so still a bit rough, but I check it from time to time and it seems to be getting better.
